my 73
« on: October 29, 2005 - 11:29:09 PM »
Hey all I'm Matt. I've got myself a 73 Challenger with a 318 2bbl. It had some pretty good options as well. Now a B5 medium blue it was originally a B1 with white vinyl top. Blue interior. (Yep, blue on blue  :)) Originally 904 now replaced with the more versitle 727 (column). Original 8 3/4 rear. Light package, Factory AC (long gone) well there isn't much else to say other than how I got it. It's been a So Cal car all it's life. Bought it in Riverside 3 years ago in rough shape. Gradually restoring it to a nice street car. It's plenty drivable now but is more on the cruiser side but will eventually turned into a street rod. Any suggestions or comments are welcomed. Thanks guys and enjoy

Great car Matt.
When my son was 17, we built him a red 70 challenger 340 auto R/T clone from a six cylinder car. We used a lot of parts from a 74 chal. He drove that car during his junior and senior year and never got a scratch. He sold it when he went to college and has regretted it ever since. I gave him a 70 barracuda GC recently to restore as soon as he gets out of college.
Enjoy it and never sell it, unless of course you find a hemi cuda or something. lol

Somehow I think this car will go to the grave with me.. unless I pass it along in my family haha. If I do indeed have a son though He'll definetly get it. I'll get him started young ;D I'll probably get an 09 by then anyway. I hope they don't ruin it  :(

Welcome to the board, Matt73.  It looks like you have a very nice car.  When you said you'd eventually like to street rod it, were you refering to putting a larger, built engine under the hood or going farther than that?  Either way, I'm sure it's a blast to drive now and it'll be even cooler when you get a chance to do some more work to it.  I bought my '73 for cheap, so I've been taking my time to resto-mod it to my likings.  It was mostly complete when I got it, but I've stripped it down to just a shell and am starting from there to build a well-rounded street car. (or at least I hope so)  A built '73 340 steel crank engine will give the power, while a built 727 and the original 8 3/4" rear will lay all that power to the ground, thanks to some 3.55 gears.  Anyways, have fun with it and I hope you enjoy the site.
