    Solid brake line replacement.

    OK,
      Being a bumbling boob, as I was taking off the leaf spring on the driver's side, I got it snagged in the solid front to back brake line. Drip, drip, drip. So now I have a new project that I didn't need(bang-head-smiley). I am having trouble removing the brake line from the front where is screws into the proportioning valve. I have tried penatrating oil, a blow torch... it won't budge. I am using a C-shaped wrench, but even with that, the nut is really starting to hurt. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get this guy to budge? I'm sure someone has been down this pot hole filled road before. So far, all I know is that Liquid Wrench burns quit nicely(LOL). I am befuddled. I beg of anyone for help.

    I got mine off with a box wrench, snip the line (it's trash anyway) & support the block well, a few taps on the box wrench & they came loose.
    Mine was out of the car, don't know how much room you have when it's in the car??? hope that helps, Rich.

    Rich,
       Thanks for the input. I did snip the line already. I unbolted the proportioning valve from the inner fender to get better access at that troublesome nut. I guess I am off to buy a box wrench now.

    A socket & small breaking bar might be just as good, if you can fit it in there, holding the block was the hard part!

    Yeah, you have a point there. Since I unbolted it, it pretty tough but I thank you for the suggestions(thumbs up).

    Update:
       
       As I feared, the nut was too abused to use any kind of wrench or socket on. I had no coice but to use the vise-grips. Success!!!!!! Thanks for all of the suggestions. I appreciate them. Now there is more to the story....


      Don't ask me how I know, that when you are sliding that new solid brake line down thru your engine bay, that you need to make sure the line doesn't fall on the "+" terminal of your battery. Sparks, smoke.. I thought it was the fourth of July again(LOL). A good reality show would be following me with a camera when I work on my car.

    Dang,I hope it didn't burn a hole in the new lines???  seems like my pal MURPHY has decided to share his gloom & doom with someone else for a while, I was wondering why things were going so smoothly the last week or so, Thanks Mike! (big grin here!)
