highest offers you have turned down?
« on: November 05, 2005 - 02:49:48 PM »
Hello all,
As owners of the most popular sought after muscle cars of the 70's, I wanted to ask you if you had any stories re offers from people who fell in love with your car(s), and wanted to buy them stat. Or perhaps cars you have actually sold? Also I would be interested in any stories ones might have of their cars being featured in magazines(as I'm sure some must have). Now that I found this site I won't have to buy mopar magazines as much. There is more info and better pics here!
I met a fellow in the 80's and he owned a Packard. I asked him how much would he sell it for and he just smiled and said "no amount of money"
Judging from the pics on this site I would bet alot would say the same!
cheers
Mike

I have had my car since July 25th 2005. Its all original R/T in need of Restration. On the trailer on the way home had 4 offers to buy. Since it has been in the garage 3 people have stopped and asked if it was for sale. It's priceless.

4 months ago, someone offered me 3k for my 68 Dart 4 door.  At the time, I had planned to keep her for a long time, eventually making a drag car out of her.  However, I'd have take it if I had known about the 67 Barracuda that found, and bought, just one month later.  It would have ment that I could have taken a smaller loan out.

We've never gotten that far into a conversation with anyone.  They'll usually ask.."is it for sale", and we just both answer with a rosounding "NO!".  Way to much blood sweat and tears in this one to ever sell it.

I was made a good offer on my Barracuda.  But it can not be bought for any price.  I would have to get two 70 Barracuda's full restored to my spec's to even come close to getting it.

I have been offered 30,000 for my car. Actually, I was at a show with OldMoparz from the board. The guy wouldn't leave me alone, said he would write me a check right there. I kept telliing him the car was not for sale. Sometimes when I look back on that night I think I was crazy to say no.  But I doubt he would have went through with it.

I never let them get past the NO, it's not for sale reply. I would have to have another convert lined up with more options than mine and be able to come out $'s ahead.

Though a price was never stated, I did have an on-duty police officer pull a U-turn to come check out my car only twenty minutes upon picking it up.  As it turns out, he noticed it was an E-body and had been looking at a '70 'Cuda 383 for $10,000.00 and wanted to know if it was a good price.....that was three years ago and the car was apparently in nice shape and had newer Limelight paint on it.  Other than that, I haven't had anyone offer me anything for it, which is just how I like it.

Never had any seriuos offers on my `72 Barracuda but it would take a lot as I also have a lot of blood, sweat and tears in it bseides owning it since `82.Maybe an offer over 25k might get me thinking about using the money to buy an AAR but it would obviuosly need restoration which would mean lots more blood sweat and tears!
