Rear elastomeric bumper.
« on: November 06, 2005 - 06:03:10 PM »
After getting slightly bored doing body work today, I thought I would take the oportunity to mount my new reproduction rear elastomeric bumper.  It was a good oportunity to check the fit.  Well, in doing so, I found out my bumper brackets are bent and causing a twist in the bumper.  Not really a big deal, just one more pain in the butt to deal with.  Can you guys with rubber rear bumpers on on a '70 and/or '71 Cuda post some pictures of the bumper mounted on the car?  Specifically I am interested in seeing what the gaps are between the bumper and the tail panel, and the bumper and the quarters.  I want to make sure that when I fix the brackets, that I get the gaps right at the same time.

Do you still need these, I can get whatever pictures you want, maybe tomorrow off a 70 A22 car.

OK, as promised, here's the pictures.  I've been told by a very good source that basically you are supposed to push the front bumper up so it hits on the fenders (push until it stops) and suspect the rear is about the same deal.  Looks like I may need to do some slight adjustment but not too bad and fits pretty good.  More pictures in the next post, reached limit.

Thank you very much 70Cuda!  That is exactly the info I needed.
This makes me feel at little better to know that the bumper should be touching the quarters.  That is exactly what is is currently doing on my drivers side.  One side I don't have to deal with!
