Well, did you sell it or decide against it?

I've decided against it. As I was going over the car, it seemed as though all I was finding was rust and that I was/am in way over my head. But, this is probably the only chance I'll have at ever owning a cuda convertible, so I'm going to stick it out and try to bring it back to life. By the way Rev-It-Up, I was looking at your website and noticed that your car's wheel housings were rusted also, how did you fix the inner protion?

When we started resoring our car, it looked pretty good.  We knew we had a few trouble spots we were going to deal with, but we thought "nothing major".  Well, when we went to sandblasting the car, ALL the trouble spots were VERY apparent.  I know what you are feeling...what have I got myself into....right?  Don't be discouraged.  You can do this!

We had to replace a lot of sheet metal (floor pans, trunk pans) and fill all kinds of holes.  We did it and we're first timers to the resto process, so you can do it too.

As far as the wheel housings, we got sheet metal and cut, bent, and welded them in place.  We ground down the welds, filled the seams and painted.   No magic to it. Our motto was (and still is) "Cut to size, Beat to fit, Paint to match".   We did that with the floor boards too.  Here's the befor and after pic.  (you might have already seen it on the website)

Good luck.  I personally think you made the right decision.  Just my 2 cents.

I saw those pics on your web site, amazing! My wheel housing doesn't even look that bad (at least until I sandblast). The biggest concern I have is that the car has a lot of rust in the front rocker/fender/cowl area that may be hard to get to, and the rear frame rails are completely and utterly toast. BUT, I've found alot of resources and I think that what I can't get repoped I can find donar sheet metal for. So, hopefully during the christmas vacation I'll get to see just what/how much needs to be replaced. Thanks for the encouragement and vote of confidence!

I think you made the right decesion.  I can't imagine how hard it will be to find one in a few years.  There's plenty of replacement panels out there.  A little welding, grinding and painting, next thing you know, you'll have a Cuda  ;D
