    4spd conversion for Challenger???

    Has anybody converted from a 727 to an A833? I know Keisler makes the TKO 5spd conversion and I really like it but it's very pricey(read: can't afford it). I know Passon Performance sells rebuilt A833's but I'll need linkage,pedals,driveshaft,etc. Is this even feasible? My 727 works great but I want a manual trans in the worst way. Tell me whata' think guys.

    Hey Benny, here's a neat and exspensive item as well. It says it can be used on the automatics or the 4 speeds. Just giving you some more options. I'd love to have one, maybe sometime when I can swing it.

    I have converted a Number of cars to 4 spd , not that hard to do the cheap trans is the OD 833 from a truck , it is virtually a bolt in & not too tough to find

    If you want it I say go for it!
    I'll never drive a manual Mopar unless it was a small block, love my Torqueflight-727 cars, shows on the strip to how good they are.


    What is it going into? Engine hp??? Street/STrip? Cruiser?

    Cheers to you Down Under NZ. The car in question is a 72,000 mi. 1973 Rallye Challenger 340. I took that numbers matching engine and built it into a 416 stroker w/11.5 to 1 comp, Eagle H-beam rods, E-heads, Holley 750HP, Air-Gap intake, MP 474" cam, TTI headers, 3.23 SG, 727, 9 1/2" PTC converter. This is my nice weather car but does see track duty once or twice a year. As far as engine HP, I'd say it's between 425 and 450 horse. It's best run altitude corrected(Denver, CO) is  a 12.7. Of course I'm not done with this engine at all and am hoping to be much faster next year. I'll be posting pics very soon.

    Sounds like you know what your doing! Glad to hear you pulled the numbers engine. :-)
    So why are you wanting to change to a manual? Just the fun factor or.....??
