    I just picked up a 1971 Grand Coupe with aprox 80,000 miles on car.
    Not knowing much about what Mopars are hot and had little time to investigate...I just bought it.
    Car has been garaged all it's life and in very good condition.....But...Has been modified...400 with Blower and all that stuff..
    Only bad body changes was that rear wheel have been flaired...those can be done over and has glass hood.
    So, not knowing alot about these Barracudas I thought this would be a good place to mention what I just purchased there has to be someone here that will let me know I did OK or stick my head in a hole in the ground.
    Any ideas on this one?

    Welcome to the site.
    If I remember right it was originaly a 383 car?
    If you post the first part of the vin# and the fender tag someone can decode it for options and such.
    The GC's for a long time were prime candidates for 'Cuda clones, but are now being noticed for their own value as a lower production car.
    What are your plans for her?
    Restore to stock or keep with the Pro-street look?

    That's a cool Barracuda.  I would keep it the way it is and have fun with it since it's modified already.  Once you get bored or have any major engine problems (hopefully not!) then I would think about restoring it.  Just my 2 cents.  Looove the '71 grills!

    Would love to see the rear wheel flares!  Any more pics?  This is a great site to get iinfo!

    Not to worry, this site has "picture gnomes" that come through and make things just the right size. :biggrin:

    It's kinda hard to get hurt price wise as long as the car wasn't carved out of a solid piece of bondo(this one was very solid from what I saw), even if you paid a little more than a "fair" price. All you have to do is wait 6 months and the prices will have jumped enough to cover it.

    No gilled fenders.
    This car is very solid as it has been a garage all it's life.
    I will get more pictures online a maybe a little detail sheet of what makes her get a pulse.
    Not even sure how long I will hang on to her as I have many projects...Never know..everything has a price(almost).

    Hey - Earl.. SMALL WORLD! You bought that car from my buddy's Uncle.. Larry. That's where I bought my black 71 shaker from.. 3+ years ago. actually his son.  I never drove that car.. but it is extremely FAST. The only thing I didn't like about the car was the welded on flares. I personally looked at the car many times.. and the body is unbelievably solid. I think its got a hemi rear in it..

    You can turn the car into whatever you like. The body is more solid than most of the 50k plus cars being sold w/ aftermarket 1/4's etc.. Hope that car is going to get driven now. That car sat in a car port for 12+ years only being driven rarely. Grille is mint.

    Are you gonna race it.. or street/show it?

    Cool looking car!!  Would like to see some more pics but the front looks pretty sweet.  I really don't like the ralley hood with the hole in the middle and think it would look alot better with a flat hood if the blower is going to pertrude though it!  JMO  Really like the car!!  SWEET!!

      You are right....small world.
    I also seen the car you bought,also a very nice car.
    Not sure on the milage on your car but this one has only had 2500 miles on it in 8 or 10 years.
    Yes it is very fast and I'm looking forward to putting some of those chevrolets in their place with this one and I have a long list of those kam-a-roo owners to clean up....    I think they all will ask to be spotted some lenghts.
    Yes it has the Hemi rear....you know the car.
    No race track for me, just the open road 65 MPH max of course....
    Anyway,I'm new to these post's so bear with me on the replies.
    Also, on the hood issue...think about this...since the hood had to be cut for blower, it is better to cut up a plastic hood rather than distroy a real hood.
