Maybe.  I don't see any S/S type cars on the list.  How many '68 S/S Barracudas/darts were made?  Like the Ford Thunderbolt, they made only about 50, so they are limited production.  Maybe this list is for full production cars, not limited production cars.

Roughly 100 SS Barracudas, and 100 Darts.

This list is for production cars.  The SS cars were modified by Hurst, not factory cars, therefore, don't technically count.

Ghost ,why did you sell your 4dr Dart for a 2dr Barracuda? It`s not the name that sells the car,Camaro and Firebird are big name performance cars and they are gone. The Mustang has come real close to being totally dropped by Ford a few times in recent years. The Mustang has a performance image and has great performance with a price that the masses can afford. If they made only four door `cudas do you think they would be anywhere near hot as they are now?I am a die hard Mopar only guy for a lot of years but am seriuosly considering the new Mustang when I need a new car. Why?simply b/c of awesome styling,v8 rear drive,2 dr performance,I don`t care what they call it.

So, you'd rather they just basically remade the 69 Charger, then?  How foreward looking of you.
............ . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .

now now did I say that, noooo      actually bringing back old names to make corporate $  thats not forward thats greedy. I did mean
if the name hasn't stayed in the marketplace like the furd car. then PICK A NEW NAME  and leave my old name with NO bad thoughts
to go with it like the 4 door HEMI Charger

i hated typing that
Why are the only other cars on the road all in my rear view mirror?  Oh yeah cause I got a 440/6 pack

Thank you GOD for the "Go Fast Division"

In Autoweek's long term testing section they had a 2006 Charger SE with the V6 and they said that to thier surprise the V6 was a lot of fun to drive.  All 3 of the reviewers said that.  They stated that it had more power than expected.  Only thing they didn't like with the SE is it had some body roll.

Hmmm...it's making me wonder what the Hemi is like.  It might be a decent ride....

It is very simple.  The 67-69 Barracuda is one of my dream cars, second only to the 71-72 Sat/RR/GTXs.  I would have sold ANY car, except a 71-72 Plymouth, in order to get one.

The GM F bodies are gone, due to internal politics.  GM wanted another plant to produce them, but signed a contract with the current plant stating that that plant would make the F bodies, as long as they are around.  So they stopped making the F bodies, (which were a mediocre seller, anyway, due to overpricing) and shut down the plant.  I believe they intend on bringing them back, on a different platform, to compete with the Mustang and new Challenger.

But why is it your dream car, simply b/c you like the name or b/c it is a cool looking car?Even if your Dart had a 340 it would not have a been your dream car, right?
You guys are right in saying there is a large market for a four door performance car like the Charger but there are still a lot of us who want a good looking sporty 2 dr v8 rear drive car and IMO only the new `stang qualifies.

For me since I have kids, a 4 door would make it easier on my back getting the kids in and out.  (Actually the van is best for that.)  As an everyday car that would be convenient.

But for a sports car, if I had no kids or fewer kids, a 2 door has the sportier look I would want.

The new Mustang is a great car, and your right.  The new Mustang definately qualifies.   Definately on the top 5 in my list.  It's just that I can't fit 3 kiddie seats in back!

But why is it your dream car

Because of Sox & Martins 68 SS.  And because of the movie Gone Fishin', which has a blue Barracuda in it.  That's why.

I have three boys and wold still buy the 2 door over the four door. I have looked at the Daytona Charger, but it does not compare to this possible Charger/Cuda.

Definately agree with you, A383Cuda.

If they make this 2009 Challenger I hope it seats 3 in the back!
If it doesn't have seating for 3 someone's sitting on someones lap!  LOL!

Sorry, I said this before I saw the new pictures of the possible 2009 Challenger.  Screw the 4 doors!

I would hope if DC builds another Cuda it would be a Plymouth.  Either that or just build a Dodge Challenger.  I would hate for DC to build a Dodge Cuda or Chrysler Cuda.  I would prefer they leave the Cuda name alone anyway.  It is just like the new Charger, as far as the cars looks, it looks great but it should not be called a Charger because it does not look like a Charger.  It looks like a Magnum sedan.  I think if DC would have called it by another name Mopar people would not cut it down so much.

Definately agree!

The car itself is pretty good.  For $30K, where will you find a 340hp, RWD sedan, with all the amenities.  In a way it's in a class to itself.

Like you said, if they gave it a different name, I think it would've been received a little more warmly.  But, if someone is looking for a 340hp, RWD sedan with all the amenities for $30K, I don't think they'll turn this car down just because it has the Charger name.   Does this make sense?  It's 4am and I'm getting sleepy...zzzzzz.
