72 'cuda 340..
« on: November 14, 2005 - 10:13:43 PM »
I could use a few (educated?) opinions. Looking at a 72 340 'CUDA in need of a resto. Typical rust out under the rear window, don't know if driveline is original AND a bit of water from Hurricane Katrina! Don't think it was floated or anythinhg but did get wet.
Fair Price ????

I'd say without seeing much of the car but I'd doubt very much the original engine is still there, could be wrong.
IMO a good ball park figure would be: $2,500 - $3,500

As a restoration project, I'd say expect $3,500-$4,500.00, give or take a little depending on what all is included with the car. (provided it's a numbers-matching 340 car and the frame rails aren't rotted out.)

I guess the water damage(hope it was only water!) is the big thing.

If you get the car,  Make sure you check all the fluids for water.  Rear axle, trans, fuel tank and oil pan just for a few things.  They seem to be in line but might think it would even be lower with the water damage.

Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I have seen cars that were in floods and there was no water line but water was in all fluids.  It was also hard to get the smell out of them..
