Stock 300C SRT-8 does 1/4 mile in 12.56sec @ 111.50mph

I was cruising around and saw a link to this site off Autoweek.com.

http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt-8-general-discussion/12593-12-56-111-50-mph-bone-stock.html

That's a pretty good time for a stock, big heavy car.

The cool thing is that the engine, or some variation of it, may end up in a possible 2009 Challenger, assumeably a lighter car.

One can only dream at this point... we'll see.

12.56!

HOT DANG!

That is faster than 99 percent of the cars on the road, maybe even 99.9 percent!

That is pretty good, I know the Vette pulls a low 11 second 1/4 though, can't remember which model but it does. Stock. :-(

I think it's a Z06.  It's mentioned in the forum at that link.

The SRT8 Charger will be a little lighter, so theoretically, should go faster.  The Challenger will be lighter still, so, an SRT-8 Challenger may go in the low 12s.  Viper/Vette killer. :)  Let's hope the price doesn't isn't as close to the Vette/Vipers as the perfomance is.

Why do they have to call it or everything (seems like) "SRT-8" This and "SRT-8" that!?!?!?
Why can't they just call it a Dodge Challenger?

My boss bought a Magnum SRT-8,metallic black, brembo brakes,20`s etc.Not sure what he paid for it but being a limited edition I`m sure it wasn`t cheap.I`ll have to make sure I bump the hp on my 340 over the winter to give him a race at the drags next spring!

Why can't they just call it a Dodge Challenger?

SRT is the "Street Race Technology" group (I think) that is a go fast division of DC.  The "-8" is the designation for the # of cylinders.

IE:  Neon=SRT-4, Ram=SRT-10, 300C and Charger=SRT-8.

Sort of like SVO and SVT for Ford.

Call it a modern day "Scat Pak".

Motor trends track test was a 13.02.

Trust me these cars are fast!. I had a guy on a bike line up against me the other day on a road test, showe him tailights big time!
He was riding a virago or something similar, probably in the 750 cc range.

Theres also a Magnum SRT-8, Crossfire SRT-6, and coming soon a Grand Cherokee SRT-8. All of the SRT cars run at least 13s (even the srt-4), most of them are in the low 13s/high 12s. The vette that runs 11s in the NEW Z06 which cost 80 grand(which is still a bargain). As far as 1/4 times on the Charger SRT-8, there arent many who have taken them down the 1/4 mile, but I did read one guy who ran a 12.8 stock. Ohh and there are a couple of supercharged SRT-8s and those are putting out 500 RWhp. The 6.1 Hemi is highly under rated....dynos are showing that they have around 450 hp from the factory.

Well, that depends on the person.  I know several people that would rather have a 10 second car, than a 17 second car.  Myself, I'd rather have the Chally, because I'd rather build the car up myself.  Plus, I prefer Dodge to Ford. ;)
