Anti rattle clips & caliper bolts
« on: November 20, 2005 - 01:16:02 PM »
I've got a '73 cuda with front disc. It's been sitting for a while. I started putting the front suspension together this weekend and have a couple of brake questions. I can't figure out the proper location for the anti rattle clip on the caliper and also how to position the tabs that go underneath the caliper bolts. Does anyone have a diagram or picture they could post?

I need to take a pic of how they sit , there is a tab that sits over the caliper & the V is sitting up so it puts pressure under the head of the bolts ... hang on I think the 73 was different  than the 70 are the bolts cross pins or short bolts screwed in towards the rotor pointed inward toward the spindle

I think the 73 is diffrent than 70. I was using a 71 manual, and the diagram looked diffrent then what I'm dealing with. I've got bolts on my setup, not sure what a cross pin is. I do have bolts that are towards the rotor and pointed towards the spindle.

ok so ther is two parts , a flat plate with a slot cut into it & a T shaped tensioner , the flat plate sits with the slot toward the caliper& the T shaped piece sits on top of the plate & with the larger part of the T pushing down into the slot

That figures I have the floating type, nice diagram though.
Here is a picture (I hope it shows up) of the anti rattle clip. I know this is not on an e-body but I think this is how mine is supposed to go.

Go to the bottom of the response page, hit additional options then browse the puter for the pic, here's a pic of the ones I have!

Those are the same clips I have. I'll try and post a picture of the anti rattle clip this evening, I've got the site's address saved on the home computer, and don't have time to search for it now.

Ok, then there are no anti rattle clips on the 73/74 setups that I have, would have been interesting watching me try and "make" a place for them! LOL, Rich.
