That's just the tip of the ice berg with the options, this car is really loaded. Unfortunately, the original block is MIA. It has a correctly dated 383 motor in it, but I cannot locate a VIN on it. It just says B 383. I'm not sure what the story on it is. Could it be a warranty block?

If it's a "B" 383...it's a 66 motor. Letter A started in 65 then on up...E=69  F=70 etc....

I'm not sure about '72, but in '73 & '74 I dont believe there was a 'Cuda per Se.  The 'Cuda hood & other options could be had individually by the option sheet & there was no big block in Cudas & Challs.  You could order the Rally hood on a slant 6 car.  The '73 Cuda that Steve had was factory w/ Rally Hood & dash, but w/ 318 2bl engine.  When I ordered my new '70 'Cuda, there was a lot of different possibilities on the option sheet, but I dont remember all of them.  I know the brown interior was availble w/ Tor Red, but was not recommended.  I almost had to fight the sales manager to get it, but the owner came in & ordered him to order the car,  That car got more compliments than any I ever had.  The only other Tor Red w/ brown Cuda I ever saw was a '71 Covert in Roanoke.    Ovmf

They did make the 'Cuda every year through '74.  My '73 is a BS model, although it just came with a 318, standard dash and auto on the column.

I think I covered that in previous post.  Th original Cudas all had rally hood, rear valance cutouts, HP engine, front sway bars, polyglas white letter tires, rally dash etc.      Ovmf

Sorry, but that's absolutely wrong. My 71 cuda had the standard dash from the factory and I've seen as many non rally dash cudas as rally dash cudas. Many 73 and 74 cudas had non hp motors. In fact, most of the late 74 cudas were 318's. Also, some of the california cudas had the standard rear valance with the turned down exhaust. Being a cuda didn't even guarantee that it would have a cuda hood.

I agree with all the above...except the last sentence....I've never seen a Cuda (BS car) with a standard (flat) hood. EVERY one I've seen has either had a dual scoop or shaker (or, in the case of an AAR, a fresh air trans am) hood. I wont say it's impossible, but I've never seen one in over 30 years of playing with these cars. Now I have seen dual scoop hoods on Barracudas (BH cars) and Gran Coupes (BP cars).

The only true way to identify what type of barracuda you have is Via the VIN... first 2 digits of a cuda VIN are BS, the barracuda VIN's start with BH or BL, a gran coupe starts with BP

I didn't say anything about flat hoods on cudas. My 71 cuda didn't have a cuda hood...it had a shaker hood. Reread the post. And you're right. both of my gran coupes have cuda hoods from the factory and one of them had elasto bumpers.

Well then i guess i agree with it 100%......LOL!

I guess when you say "cuda hood" you mean the dual scoop hood. I think of a shaker as a "cuda" hood also.

I've seen lots of Gran Coupes loaded with what most consider "cuda" options....rallye gages, dual scoop hoods, dual thru the pan exhaust, etc...a lot of those cars stickered for more than most hemi cudas, with all the options they have (A/C, AM-FM stereos, power windows are expensive options back in the day)

Hey hemi71,
I gave my son my 70 gran coupe. It's a matching numbers 318, 904 trans, b5 blue, b5 blue vinyl interior, dual scoop cuda hood, elasto bumpers, rally gauges, gc hubcaps on blue 14"wheels, buckets with blue console, and the standard gc items. The dilemma is...he can't decide whether to restore it or convert it to a cuda clone like I did with my 71 gran coupe. It was never an issue with mine. I sold my real 71 cuda and had enough money to build my 71 shaker hood clone and a 70 cuda convert hemi clone.
I love my clones as much as my real cars. I actually drive them more since I won't be destroying a real cuda if they're in an accident.

Sorry Old Mopar fan, but hotrod 98 is absolutely correct in all his statements. CA cars had turn downs instead of thru the valence tips (Hemi's included!)

even in cali though you could order the chrome tips. my chally was that way and you were not suppoesed to be able to do that. it was my understanding that you could really order these cars anyway that you wanted and the engines were the deciding factor.?.

I never saw a California car, & I know a lot of things were different in Cal.  What I said was all the orig. (read 70 or 71) Cuda cars ( These Cudas were a complete pkg) had the afore mentioned equip.  BUT, it is true you could order the Shaker hood package, as well as the 'Scat Pack" pkg & other options to these cars.  Also, Rally wheels were standard on the "Cuda cars, but quite a few were ordered w/ the Magnum stye chrome road wheels.  My brother had a Rally red '70 w/ Magnum wheels & elastomeric bumpers.  A guy a few blocks from me had a dark green w/ Black vinyl top Hemi Cuda w/ Shaker hood.  All I was saying was the minimum pkg for the orig  (Again, '70 & '71) Cuda's had that equipment.  It is possible to order a car w/ options deleted if you so choose.  If you have a '71 Cuda w/ a flat hood & the VIN code shows it, then you have an exteremly rare car.  Also, what I said was, the later cars were not a one code option pkg like the first.  You had to specify each part on the invoice to get it.  I know this will probably get a lot of replies, but read all of what I said before you jump.   Ovmf

The "Cuda was a model not a trim package so NO 'Cuda or Scat Pack Packages,  The 'Cuda did not come standard with a Rallye dash, the only "Cuda that had Rallye wheels standard was the AAR.  Barracuda's could be ordered with a performance hood after December of '69.  All Hemi cars came standard with a Shaker hood, 340, 383 and 440-4 California cars could have exhaust tips, 440-6 and Hemi cars had to have turn downs.
