They did give some advice in this thread...That if you are driving to the store, and tow a car 1 time per year, don´t go buy a big rig...

I don´t see a reason for you to pick on them every time you see them post something, or does it make you feel better?

Well, one of them won't be posting anymore!  I don't think you're going to find much sympathy for them on this board right now Rust.  You might want to stop while you're ahead.

Don´t worry, I have nothing against anyone on here, but I just feel you guys don´t need to fall to our level,
and was just pointing that out.
Ok, I won´t say anything about this now...

While I understand why tk and I are in the doghouse, I don't see why Face and Rust should be convicted of "guilt by association".

Is the towing problem something a gear vendors od unit could help overcome?
A couple gearsplits can do amazing things, when pulling stuff...

It would really help if you could find out the trailers weight, with whatever you want to bring in it weighs.
Is it even legal to pull the weight around with a 1/2 ton truck?

I am sure you could make it pull a lot, with a turbo, or blower, and gears...and all, but will you be in control, when towing with it?

I just ask, because things add up, and get heavy real fast

Think it's time you two crawled back to your hole on that other site as obviously you know everything and after everyone reads what's there you won't be welcome here. Have a nice life.

I'm not sure why you made that comment, but the question was towing, and can it be done with a small block. The answer is yes, and for less than it will cost to do it with a Hemi, a V10, or a diesel.

JS27N0B, your comment about your towing with a V10, and getting 18MPG has not been my experience with a fleet of them. There is nothing off color about that. Our records showed that the V10 Rams we had delivered 13.2 mpg on average. We also had a number of Ford E350 V10 vans, and on average they delivered 14.4 mpg. Both the vans and the trucks were well maintained, and the averages were taken over 1 year, 2 year, 3 year and 4 year intervals. Now, these are un-modified engines, bone stock, and maintained with stock replacement, and service parts.

As I see it, if you're a bigblock guy, you're going to lean toward the bigblock engines, just as a diesel guy will lean toward them, and a small block guy will follow suit. The fact remains, to tow a car efficiently, it isn't necessary to have more than purpose built 318. If you already own one, you build cost will be far, far less than the purchase price of a new truck, and certainly less than a replacement engine.

Oh, and I do have a nice life, thank you.
a swell guy from Warren Harding High.

Where is CamJam on this , he can tell you

it only takes a second towing with underrated equipment to do way more damage then spending a few extra $$ to be sure you are safe
April should have imput on this as well after Carlisle

towing with a 318 can be done , 360 is definatly prefered due to better torque the bifggest factor is a good equalizing hitch & good brakes
