Hi all!
This is my first post here...  sorry if i'm  a little green.  I don't do much with computers, so bear with me.  I am a Mopar nut to the core, my wife has an '05 Grand Caravan, and I have a '97 Dakota 4X4, '99 Intrepid and a '70 Challenger SE 318 car (which of course is why i'm here).  I got hooked on Dodge cars back in the 70's & 80's, when my dad drove a 383 Fury III, and the locals here in KY were driving HEMI Superbirds.  (He still has one unrestored w/ 24k miles, and one being restored up in Michigan).  I have recently acquired a 1977 Dodge motorhome with a 440 and a 727 to transplant into my Challenger.  The motorhome has 76000 miles, and runs like a top (although it didn't when I went up to get it...that's another story).  I have also made a deal to trade the Dana 70 axle under the motorhome for a Dana 60. From what I have read on your site, 440 transplants are fairly common, and there is no K member change needed.  Hopefully if I need any technical advice, I can find it here.

Thanks for the help thus far,

                             Tim

welcome aboard.  love to see some pics of the challenger.  I believe the Hemi is the only motor that needs a k-member swap, but someone with more knowledge could tell you for sure.  Swapping 340, 383 and 440 into 318 cars is pretty common with very minimal modifications.

Welcome aboard mate!! Sounds like you know where you want to be with your Challenger. Looks great!!

I re sized it so you can see it better in your avatar. Yes, it's small, but that's the only size it will go in without having to scroll.
If you have any other photos (front on are the best, no width) I will re size it for you. :-)

Cheers,

Thats a nice looking car, I love the blue top, I don't remember ever seeing one before.  Welcome to the site, I think other people here have done motorhome 440 swaps, so I know somebody can help you.

Hey all,  Thanks for the warm reception, on Thanksgiving no less!  NV thanks also for the picture mod.  I'm still learning.  I'm supposed to pull the motor on Sunday (It's supposed to be 60 instead of 15 degrees like today!)  I'll pass on some pics.

Welcome to the site!

Nice Challenger there, if you have any questions about the engine swap, you can get the answers here. The K member will work with the 440..just need motor mounts for the 440.

Well, good news and bad news....first the good.  motor and tranny have successfully been removed and are sitting in my garage.  Motor sounds great (especially after cutting all but 8" off the exhaust!)  Now for the bad...It appears the 727 tranny I have acquired is a truck unit with a different yoke than is used on passenger cars.  (I should've known).  Yes I know it probably has the 4 planetary set up that is most desireable (Mopar Muscle...this month).  From what I can tell, my options are to replace the tailshaft assembly, or buy a different 727.  Anyone have any other suggestions?  The yoke that is on it now is captive, and the front of the driveshaft has a universal joint that bolts to it.  I left a few pictures of the motorhome giving birth, I would have done more, but my camera was giving me fits.  Let me know if I sized them correctly! There is something theraputic about removing body panels using hammers and sawzalls!
