    Got the 'cuda home!!!!!! Now comes the decision on the way to paint it, heres the choices Ive narrowed it down to for color combos what do you think....

    A) Blue w/AAR stripes

    B) Blue w/70 billboards

    C) Sox & Martin style red white and blue with all the 70s "a tribute to Sox and Martin" logos and contingincy decals

    I am leaning towards C

    First off what year cuda ??
    second --billboards were on 71 cuda's only
    third-- is this going to be a street car or drag car ??? Sox & Martin had a great color scheme but for a street car maybe be a little to much !!
    Just my opinion.

    Howdy Loc8or, I like all of your options but IMO, I'd do it with A or B, I've seen some other Sox & Martin clones and unless you do it real close right down to the Keystone mags, they don't look right. Plus, you paint it that way, you better build it to run that way too! Any way you decide will be great though. Maybe you could do a poll. Good luck with it! I know what it's like trying to decide on a color if you don't need to stick to the original color. Once it's on the car, it's a big job to change it if you're not happy with it. After much consideration, I've finally decided to go with Plumcrazy on mine. Good luck!

    Hey loc8tor.

    My first choice would be go with the original color. What was it?
    I would lean towards the 2nd assumeing its a 71. If not than #1. I think like has been mentioned the Sox and Martins may be to much for the street.
     Look around for pictures of variuos combos and go ith what you want.

    Of course what you want is the obviousy choice since you gave us the options to help I'd go with Blue and AAR strips. :-)

    Good luck, which ever way you go you can't go wrong, it's a 'Cuda!!!!

    I would go with what you want as you are the person who has to be happy with it. I love staying wiith the factory color but I have always wanted to have a plum crazy painted car and will have one some day even if it was not on the car when it left the factory.

    Like already asked, "What year?".

    If a '70, I would go with AAR stripes.  But, would you get the AAR hood?  If yes, then I would go all AAR stuff (spoilers, etc...).  Otherwise I wouldn't do just the AAR stripes alone.

    If a '71, I would go with the Billboards.

    Sox & Martin only if it's a '70 and you would do it right, as Plum said.  It does look cool!

    sox & Martin is cool,but if its just going to be a cruiser car,it might be a little much.just my 2 cents.

    Its a '73, and I know that 73s didnt come with the AAR or Billboards or as an S&M car. But its the ones I really like.  I saw a 73 on eBay that had been painted like an AAR, and I also saw in Hemmings a 73 with dealer installed(so the guy said) 1970 billboards.  Growing up I liked the S&M cars even though I was stuck in a bowtie family.  It will be a street car with some occaisional 1320 blasts.  The original colors were light blue over dark blue buckets with a white top and side stripe, too me, it would look like a chic car.  I wanted something more MANly. The top chrome is gone and I like the look with out a vinyl top. So I narrowed it to those 3 choices.
    I know its not correct, but alot of the replys here said that the value of a "cloned" 340 or 440 car to that of a restored #s matching 318 'cuda would be about the same.  If you guys feel the car should be put as it was from the factory please let me know.  I know its mine, but we have all been to the shows/track and have seen the results of people doing it "their" way, and we all say the same thing, "What was he thinking?"

    Hey Loc8tor, when is the last time you saw anyone searching for a numbers matching 318 Cuda? I really don't think it's a big deal to modify a 318 car and it isn't even a big deal to modify a an original big block car either. I'm sure a nicely done 440 or Hemi Cuda will bring more than a numbers matching 318 car will. Just keep the original stuff and you will always have the opportunity to convert it back to the way it was. Just do what you want and have fun doing it!!  :thumbsup:
