My First E-Body
« on: November 27, 2005 - 07:51:25 AM »
I came accross this pic's from my first e-body so I thought I'd share them with ya'll.
This was originally a plum crazy-no vinyl top-white rump stripe white interior-340-4sp car. I bought it in 1993 for $ 1500.00 and it came with a 72 340--the new mags & tires that are on it in the before photo's-2 new repro quarters-2 new lower trunk extensions--2 extra doors. Don't get deals like that anymore. I sold the 72 motor and picked up a early 71 340. I was going to go with the plum color because I never had one that color but my buddy had a 70 T/A that was Hemi Orange with a Black Top and Gut with the Black T/A stripe and I just loved that color combo. So I went with that.
This car also had a very late production date of July 8th. I called Galen and he said that it was the last 340 -sp car he had on record but he did have some Hemi and 440+6 cars built the last week of production ( JULY)
Yes I know that Dodge didn't make a 340 R/T---BUT I DID !!!

Nope, you don't find deals like that anymore.  Did you ever finish it?  Got any pics.  I love before and after pics.

I like before and after pictures as well!  I have a folder set up with before & after pictures... just added a few more!

NICE work JS27, very well detailed engine compartment too.

I hope more board members post before / during / after pictures (even just before & during... if after is not quite here yet).

What ever happened to the B&A picture thread we had going... I need to dig out before & during pictures of my Hemi Cuda (including the car surviving a tornado).

Beautiful car!  Love the before pics!
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Was that a 340 R/T T/A?  I notice side exhaust on the first pic!  LOL!

To answer some of the questions asked:
Time line was April 1993 to Nov. 1994
Total cost:
BODY ( car-sheet metal-body & paint-windshield)                 $6,219.48
Interior (seats-carpet-door panels-etc)                                $1,433.17
Brakes (lines-hoses-shoes-wheel cylinder-master)                       486.09
Drive Train ( engine-trans-rear)                                           $5,275.71
Trim ( all chrome-wheels & tires-mouldings-ETC)                    $2,130.00
Misc ( exhaust-oil-wires-plugs-battery wiper motor etc)           $1,243.81

TOTAL---------------------------------------------------------------------------$ 16,798.26
I didn't take many short cuts I always try to do it right the first time and do the best I can. I know the last time I was at Carlisle in 2001 my old Challenger was there and took 2 place in e body stock so it is holding up well.
