This is for a 1971 383 with a manual trans without a shaker hood. Fits BJRW (Barracuda, Challenger, Belvedere - Satellite, or Coronet.

Despite what the parts book says, this carb. was NEVER made. The correct carb. that you need is a Holley 6191. I had the same problem with my 383 four speed 71 Barracuda convertible. These 6191's are really hard to find too, it took me four years to find the correct date coded one.

Really, OK thanks for that info.� I know a guy with a '71 383 Challenger R/T N-code so I'll have him take a look too.

I know I have seen people claiming to have the solenoid for this carb on ebay too but yes, that could be a going by the book thing. I checked the book and the 6191 is right for one without N96 (as mine is). Now I remember, the other lucky guy has N96 so his is different but I do have the build sheet and it says 48 for the carb too. I'm going from Galen's book maybe you are going from a different one but probably not.

Do you have any more 6191's?

One just sold on eBay, I bid on it but not too hard as I already have mine. It is the first one I have seen in five years. They are incredably hard to find. You will need the solenoid bracket and wiring that Bill Rolik sells on eBay for this carb. It is a must. The solenoid is another story, again very hard to find. I have two NOS ones, they took me a while to find.

CamJam has a '71 383 4-speed car with 48 in the carb section and believes his carb is original and it has the 6191 carb like A93 said it would.

Galen, update your book???

Hey A93, does having AC make a difference on having the solenoid or do all 383 4-speeds have it? Galen's book seems to imply all but CamJam doesn't have one.

I put a post on Moparts and a nice guy in Canada had a 6191 his father-in-law took off his new 71 383 RR in 72 and stored ever since. Very nice carb, plating is still in good shape and the date code even matches my car.

However, if the mythical 4667 does happen to exist, I'd like to see one.
