King of the Road

First off, I was not a participant in this event. I was on a major highway in metro Atlanta when I noticed some sort of Honda/Subaru/thing and a mid-nineties Firebird. At first they were kinda feeling each other out, to see if there was any interest.  Both of them appeared in their late teens, so naturally, one thing led to another and the race was on.  The light changed and they both left in a big hurry. :burnout:.  The Firebird was pulling the "other" car.  I was quickly reminded of why street racing is not a good idea around here.  They both discovered that the "King of the Road" was a late model Crown Vic with 800mhz of pure Motorola. :pullinghair:  In about 2 heartbeats, there were 3 police cars surrounding them :sadwavey:  I did not hang out to see what happened to those guys, but I'm sure it wasn't a good thing..................Oldschool

Ouch!  That's an expensive bill for both of them that'll just continue grow. (mega high insurance rates until they're 25.)

Some states will actually take your car if you're caught street racing. I think Florida is one of them.

The racers were morons.  That stuff belongs on the track.

Now, a little race to see who can reach the speed limit faster, that's okay.

 :iagree:

Much as i agree, you can get busted for that, they write it off to "Reckless endangerment"

Cop tried to ticket me under that rule for giving a bit too much gas at a stop sign and spinning the tires a wee bit. I finally convinced him that it was an accident.

The reason street racing is as big as it is, is that you have to be 18+ around here to get on the strip, and there are no technical tracks around. not to mention you have to reserve a spot months in advance, and it costs $400 plus

Let me say thast i think street racing is stupid, and dangerous *COUGH*darwin*COUGH*

What kind of track is this?  The local one you can pretty much just show up, pay $50 or so, and race all day.

I hope I get this right.  I heard on the radio that a local person was caught on the interstate doing something like 128 mph in a 75 mph zone.  He was busted and ticketed for reckless endangerment.  When he went to court, the judge had to dismiss the charges becuase he (the judge) did not see how the rider was endangering anyone but the rider himself.  And since the rider was only issued the one ticket, he was off the hook!

They can take your car in Michigan . . .for sure!  Friend of mine got a ticket for street racing but wasn't really caught at it.  Bunch of the kids that were there confessed that he was racing!  He got pulled over and recieved a ticket.  Cost him over $1000 bucks and they took his ride!  He bailed it out the next day but still a pain in the ass!   :pullinghair:     Sure hope I never get caught!!
