Has anybody bought or even seen these in the flesh?  I'm tempted to get a set for the new cuda.

I don't know anybody who has them so I can't help you out with that. I don't know how pickie you want to get but when I was restoring my car I found out that in 70 Chrysler used 4 different color & types of woodgrains on their dash bezels. Depending on when and where it was buillt.

I know this isnt exactly your question...but related.  REM sells the woodgrain decals.. seen here in this shipment we got

they dont have the labels for the switches though.

they have been discussed here in the "interior and guages" forum as well as Moparts.  I opted for the decal myself and am VERY pleased with it and about 1/4 the price of the repro overlays.

I bought both and unlike Miketyler I was VERY disaponited with the decal.
Incorrect grain, wrong color and the fit was poor, didn't even try it it was that far off......... :banghead:

Maybe we got a bad batch, not sure but there was no way I was going to put that on my car.
I ended up buying the metal diecast ones next, much better, almost an exact match, didn't quite fit though.

Needing some ineterior wize to make it look right.
I don't think I have struck it liucky yet with any repro stuff......as for door panels..... :stomp: :eek4:

NZ, i hear ya buddy...the decals just dont make it for the rallye dash (been there, done that)  I want this Cuda to have every detail match the quality of the body/paint work it has done to it. I'm willing to pay the $$ to get the correct part.

I think i'll take a stab at these parts.

Yip, totally agree, can't beat restored originals.  My original cluster panel was SOOOO close to being perfect but there were a couple of flaws that were too visible, if you touched them up they still would have sticked out.  :P

Door panels and 1/4 moldings have been by far the worst repro stuff on this restoration. One of the panels was 1-2" short.
We got replacements and while they were better they still fell short of excellent quality.
You'd think with the money restorers spend the manufactures could make some EXACT repros......

Oh well, we'll live.  :sadwavey:

I bought the ones from James Fillmore on Ebay. I'll confess I did have to go a little beyond the instructions to make the installation right, but they came out very nice. I was prepared to purchase a large piece of the same material to ensure it matched my console but after I received the product I found it was too close to the console plate to warrant replacement. The only problems I anticipate down the road might be shrinkage over time or the glue losing its adhesion.

In defense of his decal product, I will post pics for you and would welcome your comments.

I've never seen a set of repo door panels I liked...some are better than others, but none of them are close to the originals. I'd find a s=nice set of originals and dye them if i had to rather than buy a set of repo panels.

I'm probably going to buy this part for the dash...I'll fill you all in on how it works out.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing but for the mean time they'll do just fine.
The grains is "OK" and for how we've built my (built to run) and not a trailer queen with guys looking over her ticking boxes that's perfect. You have to look closely to see they are repro and down these ways and up there probably, no ones going to give two hoots.  it's the fit that's the worst part about all the door panels we've tried.

As for the cluster panel, they are pretty good appearance wise, once again it's the fit that "can" be a problem.
Hopefully for your sake you get a great batch and all works out.

Here is mine fitted.

Thanks mate!!  :drunk:

I wish I had taken a photo of before they fixed it up.  :banghead: Still, I guess it's the end result that matters the most.

here's pics of the decal - I still think it looks good. Of course the polished bezels and white guage faces will be a too extreme for most of you but at least its not "just another rallye dash"

All else aside, what do you think of the decal alternative?
