K-frame for 440-6
« on: December 02, 2005 - 07:49:47 AM »
The E body K-frame for the 440-6 motor, 70-71, included a skid plate welded on the bottom center section.  Apparently there was also a small flat washer welded on the K-frame as well.  I have seen this washer in photos only; it looks to be about the size of a quarter.  What is this washer for and did all skid plate K-frames have them??   :dunno: :1zhelp:

As far as I know the only difference in any of the 70-74 K frames with the exeption of the hemi and slant 6, was for the 340 sixpack that had a tag welded on with the last two digits of the part number stamped in it. Did the factory install the skid plate on any of these? Did someone else just modify it?  :dunno:

the deeper oil pan 440s & Hemis had a skid plate welded to the bottom to protect the oil pan , not sure about the washer , I have seen them but do not know if all skid plate K frames had them
