What price range is Reasonable
« on: December 02, 2005 - 11:11:28 AM »
:undercar: I'd like some opinion on this car.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE-Challenger-1970-70-R-T-RT-383-Magnum-Red-Mopar-SG_W0QQitemZ4595010184QQcategoryZ6198QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It looks very familiar to me. Almost like I've seen it on ebay before.  The location is very near where I live.  I noticed the pictures are mostly 20 footers.  The close up shows runs on the quarters, trunk rust and other items theat mean significant body work.  I really want a RT/SE but don't want to pay more than a car is worth and face the ire of my wife to boot.  I'm still finishing up my convertible so that would impact my cash flow too.  So give me your opinion on what value range you would peg it in and advice on issues that would make it a walk away proposition.

If you can go see it, then by all means do so. You need to know how extensive the rust is. Is that rear window leaking down into the trunk big time, or not? Just how bad is that bubbling on the rear quarters? Hopefully it isn't rust painted over.  :stomp: The speedo reading fast means the rear was probably swapped out with a higher gear ratio. Overall, not a bad car. Given it's an R/T, I bet the seller won't take less than 20K. That's my guess.  :dunno:

I like your car and if you weren't so far away from where I live I would have bought it.  This one is five miles or closer to where I live.  I think your car in contrast is a better buy.  I've decided to finish my convertible instead and not buy another challenger until the one I have is 100%.  I just have so many memories tied to that particular model growing up it is hard not to buy one when they come up locally.  They don't come up that often and as a person said in another thread getting a buy on one is even harder to do.

Wiging -  why don't you sent Lumpy $20 to take a video of the car for you ?
Seems like a real good price for what he is selling.
Spending $1000 for transport isn't much if it is the right car.

Whoops, just saw you aren't in the market.  Well, it's good advice anyway.
