« on: December 04, 2005 - 09:18:32 PM »
Hi,

Got some scratches on my door windows that I would like to either minimize or get rid of.  Is there anything out there can help or am I stuck looking for new glass.

Appreciate it.

Hi Jerry, The Eastwood company sell a scratch remover kit for glass. They claim it will remove deep sctaches from glass but I have never tried it. The kit cost is $45.99. You can check out the web site at www.eastwood.com or call 1-800-345-1178

Another thing that can help you get scratches out of glass is toothpaste.  That's right, plain ol' regular white toothpaste.  It works great on fine scratches but not real deep ones.

The local body shop supply had some 3000 grit liquid polish.  I might try it.  I heard that the amount of polishing time required is extreme which is probably why no glass shops offer this service. I've also wondered if spot polishing just distorts the view through the glass (is the cure worse than the disease?)  I'd be interested in hearing about other members results as there is no other practical option.  The last time I got price on side glass for my Demon doors I was quoted $900!  I wonder what a Cuda runs.
