drill sizes for taps

we all have broken bolts or trying to adapt new to work so they are safe to drive so  here is the charts

remember that

 5/16 + 3/16= 8/16 which  is 1/2 the wrench size
3/8 + 3/16= 9/16 the wrench size

Usually the 75% theory works. Use a drill as close to 75% of the thread diameter. Not sure about self tapping screws. There are always exceptions, but this has worked for me.
