I bought an old Charger that had the same problem.  One of the best trans men in the area says the front clutch is welded up.  I didnt fix it; just used the tail shaft to fix one I broke.

Did you check your fluid level? Could be alot of things.... :o  ??? Throttle linkage, kickdown band,
Hydraulic presure not right, clutches sticking, Valve body stuffing up or leaking......Have you sorted the problem out if so I wouldn't mind seeing what it actually was,  cheers.  8)

it was the sprag, to many burnouts ???

i did a burnout and about 15min. of driving it started acting up. so i just replaced the trans with an extra one i had. then i tore it down to see the cause.  there was no damage to the housing just looks like the springs compressed and the rollers would not release.

by the way does anybody know were i can get a roller and spring kit for a 904. i saw a couple of places but they had a min. $ amount order that was more than the kit i needed.

I can most likely get you one , do you want me to send it from here ?
The rear sprags are available in& bolt in style which is better & also a square roller style for more bite
