Jim's Auto parts
« on: December 10, 2005 - 10:01:28 AM »
If anyone decides to purchase from JIM'S AUTO PARTS (a mopar parts distributor out of New Hampshire), BE AWARE of the web prices listed. Their web ordering form is archaic as it does not give you the most up to date pricing. The form makes you manually type in the price listed on the site. On the few items I ordered, the advertised price was NOT accurate, it was advertised lower than the actual price. They will not advise you (by way of their website or e-mail) if the price has changed. They simply billed my credit card automatically for the higher price. There is a very small disclaimer on their site that addresses this.  Granted, they do carry a lot of parts, but whose to say how often they update them. I believe it is rather deceptive. They also charged me over $7.00 to ship a soft mailer that weighed in at just 6 oz. When I called them up to discuss my experience, the lady was rather defensive about the whole thing. Needless to say I cancelled the rest of my order. If anyone plans to purchase parts from this outfit, CALL AHEAD FOR CURRENT PRICING AND GET THEM TO GIVE YOU A SHIPPING QUOTE! THIS WAY THERE WILL BE NO SURPRISES

I have heard nothing but bad stuff about them. I called once looking for something and was greeted by a very rude woman who could have cared less if I bought from it or not, so I didn't.

More reading for your pleasure.

Jims-AutoParts.com are utter and total shlt  :swear: :banghead: :stomp: :dupe:

Overcharged me 3x as much for shipping and their "Packing and Handling" charges were some what, exaggerated.
No email returns and if they were they were about 3 to 4 months later, NO LIE.
You order something and wait, and wait, and wait, but nothing. Then they get back to you later asking.

All it takes is 1 email to say sorry sir we are out of stock, give me an ETA and the option to cancel my order and it would be fine.
But, that is too much work for ol dlck weed himself....

NEVER AGAIN.

 :iagree:

I ordered online from them and I never received anything.  I could never contact anyone.  After a few months I bought my parts elsewhere.  I was never charged but I hope I don't recieve the order in like a year from now and get charged then.  I definately would not recommend them.

should have posed the question here BEFORE you ordered from jim's. I live near his warehouse and would not buy anything from him, even if he took 50% off! I don't know how this guy stays in business. :dunno:

I ordered a catalog 2 years ago AND STILL didn't get it!  It was supposedly on backorder at the time of my order and I even paid for it!  It never came, but just as well, cause I probably wouldn't order from it anyway.  I guess we all live and learn.

Luckily, I only ordered $20 worth of items. Canceled the back ordered item since shippping & handling would have cost more than the item. Makes me wonder if they purposely backorder parts so they can charge another handling fee.

Thanks for this information as I will make sure that I don't order anything from them as I don't need any problems like this when everything already costs enough. I have not had any problems like this from anywhere.

I being new to the Mopars, have checked many forums and found this to be the consensus on this place. Many times a bad employee (especially one that answers phones) can really put a dent in business. I have never dealt with them personally, but I have to wonder whether the person on top, knows what is happening in the forefront. I sent an email to someone named Kris (shows to be President of the company), and let him know what I had heard through the different venues. I'm guessing Kris may be Jim's son? 30 years seems to be a long time for a business to be around with these type of complaints. Perhaps he will take an interest in what's happening and straighten things out over there. I believe that anyone supplying parts to help in our hobby does a great service, providing they run a fair  and decent business. In the end, they're business ethics will make or break them.
