I think that the way it sets it's only worth about $15,000 tops but if you are having trouble finding a nice rust free car then I would think you may end up paying a little more to get a nice one such as this. I would find out if it is a BS or BH Barracuda and offer him something lower and go up from their. It may save you some money as he may have it priced high but will take less. Just my 2 cents.

There is one thing ya'll are forgetting !!! It is a 70 Barracuda--CUDA--. It doesen't matter what engine is in it. If it is a rust free car then it is a perfect way to go for a HEMI CLONE. Some body with big bucks in mind will shell out the $ 20,000 add a Hemi for $ 15,000 ands some body and paint for another $ 5,000  and $ 5,000 for interior and trim and you have a car that will sell for $ 75,000 to 100,000 for under $ 50,000. That's double your  money !!!!!!! I had a friend who just sold a 70 Barracuda convertible 6 cylinder three speed on the column last year. The car looked good from 20 feet away but it was in really poor shape. Every body panel was loaded with rust I mean the car needed to be rebodied. I told him the car was worth about $ 12,000 to 15,000 tops well he sold it on ebay for $ 22,500.00. The buyer was going to put a Hemi in it and restore the body and sell it.
Remember it is not what it is BUT WHAT IT COULD BE !!JS27

But being a #'s 383 4-Speed he'd be better off saving this car and getting a /6 Cuda to make into a HEMI clone for less.
So he'd have a 70 HEMI 'Cuda that would sell for $80,000+ for under $40,000!

But the /6 and 318 cars are drying up too. If it's got a good body and your mods increase the final value, that's is all that seems to matter.

Great catch on the barracuda emblem, i didn't notice until you said something.

If Galen documented it it must be a grand coupe?  383 4sp????

Just curious why it must be a grand coupe if Galen documented it,why would that be?

That would be a major mopar SIN,changing a numbers BB car just so its worth more or to sell it for more,Its difficult to change it back and the numbers motor may get lost, besides why would anyone in their right mind want to change a BB numbers car?Go buy a /6 or 318 as NZ stated,my 2 cents worth.Me being a mopar purist I think we need to hang on to the orginal cars and not just change them for a buck, then we might as well drop a ford 427 side oiler in,when does it stop?

Sorry, I did not mean if Galen documented it, that his say so, made it a grand coupe, I ment that if its a Galen documented car with a 383 and it has barracuda emblem, then its not a cuda, and stright barracudas did not have 383s.

I may be wroung and if I am please let me know !

Knowledge is power and you guys have the knowledge.

Waiting for a deal does not bother me, its that every day I wait, the cost of getting one goes up. :swear:

I looked for a year and a half for my last car before I found the right deal.  I don’t have to have a numbers matching car, I am sure it would be a benefit in the long run, but I want a big block, 4sp, air conditioning and 26” radiator to drive and enjoy.
It seam that more and more people Cuda’s and Challengers for an investment (not that there is anything wrong with that) then buying them to enjoy. just my  :2cents:

We agree and I didnt mean to sound harsh on changing a barracuda to a clone, just not something i would even think of just to make money, unless it was a /6 or 318 car and i may keep even those orignal,Guess I'm Oldschool,Here's a production numbers link, you could get a 383 4 speed in a barracuda

Thanks Moparnut,

I take all in life with a grain of salt, so no offense taken.

I am not into taking a car and making it a Hemi  “been there done that” just to make money.

I look at each car independently before I jump in and fix it up.
Take this car, I (myself and no other) would take it back to stock including what ever color the car was.  Now if it was a 72 318, I would make that into a G force machine with updated interior and orange paint.

My thought on this car was it seems high for a car that need a total restoration, in my opinion it a $10,000 to $12,500 car as it sits.  However, I am new to the Cuda world and was wondering if I was missing something.

Hopefully, they will call back and I can go see it and take some more pictures.
