Sung to the Beverly Hilbilly's Theme Song:

Here's a little story 'bout a man named Joe

His Barracuda's tires treads were gettin a little low

So Bob said , "JOE" I'll tell ya what I'll do

If ya blow up your tires I'll getcha a couple a new...

Tires that is ,

Canadian Tire... Motomaster

So Joe wound up the engine and the squealin began

The little small block howled and the tires started to bend

After 7 or 8 minutes the smoke was gettin thick

We inhaled the odor and started gettin sick

Lack of oxygen ...  brain damage

When the tires hit 8 grand they really came apart

The steel belts were slappin and the fender was comin apart

We were laughin so hard that we nearly pissed our pants

But Joe kept on revving and the schrapnel made more dents

This all happened one night many years ago at my brothers shop . It was about midnight when we started the burnout and it went on for about 10 minutes . By the time we were done , Joe's Barracuda was about 10 pounds lighter from all the bondo that the blown tires eroded away from the 1/4 panels . If you look closly at the 4th picture you can see the steel belts sticking straight out like hair or something .

The shop has a 16 foot ceiling and as you can see in the last picture , the smoke went from roof to floor .

You couldn't see a foot in front of your face so we shut everything down for the night .

When we came back the next day at about 10 am there was solid smoke from about 8 ft up all the way to the roof . It took the rest of the day to blow it all out the open doors .

We are still amazed the fire dept. never showed up ...What a bunch of Hosers EH!!!

;D Thanks everyone , just finding those pictures brought back a lot of memories from a time when our cars were just that ! Cars , not museum pieces that are only driven on sunny days with no clouds in the sky .  I know many of us still drive our E-Bodies during the summer and that's cool , but my passion for these cars came from a time when I used to drive my first 1971 Challenger convertible every day . That means summer, winter , spring and fall . I put 36,000 miles on that car in the 3 years I owned it and in the winter if it was anywhere near 32F , I had the top down and the heater on . It went camping in the mountains on gravel roads and skiing during the winter . If you go to my web site you can see a picture of it with a ski rack mounted on the trunk back in around 1981 .

( http://drive.to/stwheels  and look for the brown car on the "My Cars" page )

Right now I'm looking for a 1970 Challenger Conv. with a 6 cyl . I'll build that little 6 like you've never seen before ( Neil and I have a few ideas about this ) and it will  sound like nothing you hear at any of the shows . I appreciate the work , time and money that goes into a Big Block Clone , but they are more the rule than the exception now adays . And like my 67 Coronet I'm building right now , it will be a daily driver .

I'd like to hear about any other daily driver E-Bodies out there . I'll bet there are some great stories to be told about non summer driving experiences !!!

Merry Christmas everyone and have a MOPAR NEW YEAR  ;D ;D ;D
