'88 Turbo Lebaron vert
« on: December 20, 2005 - 09:08:53 PM »
Went down to the auctions again today and bought a '88 turbo Lebaron.  cheap cheap.
Nice top and body and it looks like it needs a new computer and a front bumper.

It has the nice wheels, leather interior and power everything.

Not sure what to do with it at this point.. What do you guys think?

If you can get the computer and bumper fairly cheaply, I say fix it, and then drive the HELL out of it!

How much do you think it would cost for the computer and the bumper?

here the average new computer would range in 100+/- range before the core charge which is the same or more than the new one....you'll need the numbers off the old one, and the prom (chip inside the computer)..if you replace it make sure you discharge your self...static electricity can hurt it prom.....just a heads up..

I already posted a reply to the same thread basically on www.dodgecharger.com but, the computer used from another car goes for about $50 or cheaper per EBay:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrysler-Le-Baron-Engine-Computer-ECM-1987-2-5L_W0QQitemZ7986520611QQcategoryZ33596QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
or you can order a new one for about $200 (shipping and tax included). Also a front bumper for everything from what I can see will cost around $150-$200.  You might be able to get it cheaper locally and avoid the shipping costs. Anyways, I would check to see.

In sunny California Labarons verts are either driven by old men or the "rainbow crowd"

I would flip ASPA

Convertibles hold their value. Even when they are in poor condition. Regardless of what manufacturer made them. Just for curiosity, book out a hardtop. Then book out a convertible. Then see the difference. Of course, some areas they go for more than in others too. Base your decision on those factors.

I agree I paid $5k for my Dakota Convertible 4x4. There is a market for these vehicles. There may not be a big market now but, somewhere along the line there will be. My question is what are the production #s on a car like this?
