What is the difference in supports for rubber bumpers?
« on: December 20, 2005 - 11:56:56 PM »
Just noticed that they have a different part #. Does anyone know exactly what is different? Can regular bumper supports be used with elastomeric bumpers? Thanks...

I found these pictures of mine. Don't know if they will help, but, they are for the front elastomeric bumper with fog lights (brackets).

I have a rubber bumber w/braces but no light brackets, so I wouldnt think that would be the difference.

mine is a front rubber bumper car, and supposedly, you cannot make any adjustments to them.  is this correct info?

If this is for a Cuda, I just happen to have a rusty set I took off a rubber bumper (used my old mounts).  If you want them you can have them for say $30 plus shipping.

I want them if they are not the ones that I already have. Can you give me the part numbers on them? And shipping cost to zip 76028.

Part numbers:
2962280
2962281

Are these what you want?  Like I said though, they are rusty.  One hole is slightly rusted out and will need a piece welded in to make it right.  I suppose a guy could blast them and do that and make everything right though but I had better ones to use.

The numbers are on the backside against the frame where you don't see them either anyway.

I am a little confused about the numbers. If I am reading my parts book right, yours and mine are incorrect for the rubber bumpers  :dunno: . I am going to do a little more research and try to let you know one way or the other by tonight.

To tell you the truth, I think they are the same.  The different part number may include the road lamp brackets (for an assembly consisting of multiple parts) which as you know, all 70 Cuda had.

I have original road lamp brackets somewhere too.

Yep my mistake, after going out and checking mine they are the same numbers as yours and are in perfect shape. The parts book still shows a different # for rubber bumpers. I will go over the numbers again, maybe the 71's are different and that through me off  :dunno:. Anyway thanks for the offer.
