Is this guy crazy or is he right.

I saw these adds in my local newspaper this morning so I though I would share them with you. I think the guy with the 73 is on drugs personally or the car must be a really super tricked out ride. What do you think ??

The 73 is definately overpriced.  :wow:  The 72 COULD be ok, depending on HOW MUCH restoration is needed.  If it is a pretty decent driver, but would need a lot to become a show car, then he may not be WAY out of line. If it needs a lot to become driveable,   :working:  then he is way overpriced.  Just my   :2cents:  .................Oldschool

I think it seem fair. Show condition. I would pay for it if I had the money...it maybe a "little" over price but not by much.
A 1973 Challenger may be overprice a little but this is a 'Cuda.

Here's one in show condition....
A 1974 asking $35,000 it is numbers matching though but still, a crate engine done correct is just as good to some people.

You must be living in 1990,lol.A 73 is worth much more than 10k.Nada guides says my 73 rally is worth 33k on the high side and my 70 GC is worth 28k.I know they may not be right on but close, surpising my chally is worth more than my GC,probably because of all the options on the chally,I would still rather keep the GC

Right. and the later ones all had the good disc brakes and swaybars.  Still, I can't believe they turned             down almost 28K for that one  :eek7:

I think it is over priced and if this trend continues most of us will not be able to afford to buy one unless we win the lottery. I wish these cars were only worth $10,000 restored so I could buy 7 one for everyday of the week.

I think there will always be cars with exceptional qualities that will put them into a higher price group than like year models. One should take note though when the 72-74 popularity increases to a point where people are buying them over similar priced 70-71 cars. I just don't see that happening anytime soon  :walkaway:

There are excepts to every rule.  72-74 Challengers and Cudas are going to be in their own here someday.  Maybe nothing like the 70/71's but we all understand that.

70-71 e-bodies always have been and always will be more desirable than 72-74, much the same as Cuda's are fetching more money than Challengers even at the Hemi Convertible levels.  The fact that the early years cars were available with the big blocks, and "most" consider them to have better stylng than the later years makes them more valuable.  Yes as the years pass and fewer 70-71's are around the later cars may climb in value but I don't think the late small block ralleye's or Cuda's will ever reach the level of the early year cars because of the history.  This is why given the opportunity most looking for a restorable car are still going after the 70-71's instead of the 72-74's.  If you aren't doing a concourse resto, the price would be the same to bring either car to show quality but the 70-71 has enherintly more value.

all of this is my opinion and speculation based on what i have seen take place, but it doesn't matter what muscle era car you look at pre-72's almost always are more valuable than post 72's, be it a Camaro, Road Runner, Charger, Chevelle, or Mustang.  72-73 seems to be the breaking point because that's when the emissions and other regulations stopped much of the fun.
