New Challenger affect old Challenger $$$$
« on: December 23, 2005 - 03:32:09 PM »
The old Mustangs (69-70) has sort of stayed or lowered in value since the new ones are so nice. Do you think the new Challenger will affect the old Challenger prices??

I hope the bottom drops out of the market for original Challengers, then maybe I can afford one.

If they do a new Challenger the original ones will go up like a rocket. :2cents:
I hope they don't make it.

Ford built upteen million mustangs in the 60's, compared to the amount of Challengers built. 70 and 71's may level off in value but I dont see them dropping off alot. 63 to 67 Corvettes, the best looking IMO still continue to climb in value no matter how good or how fast the new Vette is.

I doubt the top quality & optionhed E bodys will drop , the less optioned & lower quality restos May see a slight drop , it really is a different market between buying a 30 year old classic or buying a new car with a warrenty & unlimited supply/ #s being built , Im sure the new cars will drop in value , used Stangs do not pull decnt $$

I'm riding the fence on this one.  It will bring heightened awareness to some folks of the E-bodies.
But guys who want their first or second Challenger/ cuda may just go buy the new one instead of fixing the old ones.
I think if you are convinced the new one is to be built, and you were planning on selling your 70-74 version  sell it before the new one comes out.
Good point on the mustangs, although Ford never quit building them, there was always a new one to look foward to...
Where the Challenger has been frozen for 30 years. Maybe the price of old ones won't drop, but it'll take longer to sell them.

Me too, but I doubt very much that one will affect the other. As others pointed out, the value of the older Mustangs ('64-'70) haven't been affected by the new Mustang's success, nor have the classic 'Vettes  been affected. Those are probably the only two current vehicles relevant to this kind of discussion.... the GTO and Chagnum don't have enough in common with their predecessors to be considered.

I think the values will continue to go up.
The guys with the trailer queens and the rest of us will get one.
(Depending of course on how retro it is, and it better not have 4 doors.)
