windshield trim retainer clips for Cuda's
« on: December 24, 2005 - 07:13:17 AM »
Is there a lot of variation in these between 70-74 Cudas? When I replaced the clips on my back glass I found that what I had was different then what was advertised in the Mr. G catalog for a 72 Cuda. I ordered the closest match to what I had and all fit pretty well. Now I am preparing to put the front glass in and am seeing the same thing. I would like to save a few dollars and buy these off of Ebay but they appear to be a little differenet than mine. Here are pics of the two for comparison. The lower is what supposedly fits all Cudas and Challengers front and rear glass. There are differences but I suppose the main one is going to be the distance from the center of the retaining pin to the trim retaining lip. Has anyone used the below type before?

mike i've had good results as far as the clips being close to original at  www.rtspecialties.net  as they had exact repros of the clips that retain the SE trim to the tail panel. I checked their site and found a pretty close match for your original clip under the Window Trim and Hardware section.

since you're already in to Mr. G's have you contacted them? maybe a mix-up when your order was filled?

Like anything there are different manufacturers but you are correct in that the only thing that will affect how they work is the distance from the screw or stud location to the lip where the moulding snaps on.
