    correct carb for '70 383hp for CA?

    I'm trying to find the correct carb for my "new" '70 Challenger RT/SE , automatic 383 with A/C and N-95 ECS (California) emission system.
    There is no build sheet, as it's an LA built car, so I don't expect to find one. The carb on it now is an AVS for some kind of mid '70's Ford.
    I've run across some conflicting info on the correct original carb for this application.
    Does anyone else have a '70 383hp, automatic California with air car with the original carb on it? 
    Most resources are showing a Carter AVS 4734, but I'd sure like to verify this.

    a friend had the exact car but not cali & it lisyed both the AVS & Holley 600 , it ran better with the Holley , I have an AVS from this car listed in the parts for sale section 
     I cannot find the ad , I will have to look for the carb to get the number

    I have a carter avs all rebuilt off a 68-69 383 cali car. I belive its #s are 4401-s I think its off a charger would have to look up the #s.
    anyway if you need it im in sacramento.

    Holley 4218

    Holley carbs were pulled to a potential fire danger early in production and replaced with Carters.

    Is you engine originally Blue or orange?I pulled the all original numbers motor out of my GC and i know its the original carb,If its Blue we would have the same engine and i could check for you since its sitting in my shop out of the car

    My engine is orange....
    Would the 383 4 barrel in a Grand Coupe be the same engine as a 383hp R/T or Cuda ...or the lower performance
    383-4 found in non hp applications....like C bodies and such?  That, I'm not sure about.
    Did your GC have air and N-95 ECS?
    I didn't know that about the Holleys being replaced by Carters early in production.  I had thought that all non CA '70 383s had Holleys but.....

    I am not sure if the carbs are different but the Blue engine was 330hp non A/c super commando and the Orange was A/c 335hp,Mine is non A/c,not sure if they both used tha same carb,Chryco would probably know

    Forgot to add,mine is the hp application BPNOE Vin,I dont know if the Non hp application would have the same carb

    My 70 R/T is also a Calif car. The original motor was gone but I check my broadcast sheet and it stamped 43 which stands for Holly 4369. When was your car built ?? Mine was built 11/20/69. My car is not an air car though so I don't know if that makes a difference.

    My car was built in, if memory serves without checking for sure...Nov 69 also.  Is yours automatic and was it built in LA also?
    If it was, and you have a build sheet, then maybe there's a chance there might be one in this car too!

    yes my car is an auto but it was a hamtramack built car with the N95 code. I have the gas tank with the 5 lines coming out of it with the vapor separator.
