JS,
is your car a 383 car? If so I would love a copy of your broadcast sheet as mine is MIA and would love to verify what some of the Normal codes should be.

Mine GC has N95,look at my webshots and i have the decode sheet posted there under GC
Thanks Moparnut.....looks like yours is very similar to mine except for the A/C.
Do you have the build sheet for the GC?  If so, if you could tell me what code you see under "carb", that would be helpful....also, what carb is actually on the original motor would be good to know too!
Thanks
Guy

From what I know the 70 and 71 383 4 barrels were painted Hemi Orange and in talking with Y.O. the said the same A/C or not. I believe the 2 barrel 383 were blue ( turquoise

According to anyone i have talked to,the blue was the 330hp 383 and the orange was 335hp 383 w/ A/C,my Gc is 330hp 383 and i know for a fact its never been out of the car or repainted,it was obvious when I took it out and spoke the the guy that bought it new in 1970,It has 74k original miles. The cars body paint was stripped and the resto never completed, hence the patina on the metal, then i got it.I dont think being a GC or a Cuda would change the engine color but i could be wrong on that point

At least in E-bodies, I think that's correct.  So an E-body with an "N" code 383 should be orange.
I owned a 383-2 GC convertible with air from 1980 thru 1986, and it definitely was torquoise.
This is getting more and more complicated!

I know Y.O. is not perfect. They resorted to looking in a Chrysler book to find out. All I know is that my engine is original to the car its a 383 non A/C 4 barrel and its orange.

Tropical....I agree with you too.  My unrestored survivor... "N" code Challenger R/T, LA built, N-95, auto and A/C...original "everything" also has an orange 383.
I just spoke with Frank Badalson of Roger Gibson Auto Restoration about this very issue this evening.
He says that no matter what trim an E-body is...ie R/T, Cuda, Barracuda, Challenger, Grand Coupe...whatever, that if it's an "N" code 383 in the VIN, the engine should be orange...AC doesn't matter.  He says the only torquoise 383 in an E-body would be a 2 barrel.  That jives with every original car I have seen also.
