The orange 70 hemi cuda, bench seat, two owners, numbers matching, full docs brought $250K. The green 70 clone brought $87K I think it was?

Aside from the Mopar Madness that seems to be a major part of that show, I get a kick out of seeing all the cars and the money people are willing to pay for them. The vettes, the street rods, the muscle cars, the one-of-a-kinds; its all good.

I understand Boyd Coddingtons "What-the-Hey" car is back on the block this month. Whats up with that? Didnt that thing sell at the last one?

Do you guys think that the "No Reserve" rule that B-J is implementing this year will affect the prices?   :dunno:   Could the new rule make them go up, or down, or no effect at all?     :cooldancing:   .....................Oldschool

I'm going this year. Look for me and my trophy wife. Just kidding. I am going, but with a friend not a trophy wife.

I think rich-guy feeding frenzies like B-J have distorted the price of mopars in general, and made it harder for the average guy to afford one. If Tim Allen and Shaq get into a bidding war over some cuda, does that mean the final price is representative of that species of car in general? Of course not. It is merely one particular car, being fought over by one or more individuals for whom money IS NO OBJECT, sold for an outrageous sum. For the average working stiff like you and me to watch B-J and come away thinking that is representative of the car market is unrealistic. I encountered it just today at the car parts store, when the guy behind the counter said "Did you see how much such-and-such sold for?", as if everyone owning one could replicate that price. I do think, however, sensationalized affairs like B-J ratchet up collector car prices merely by the trickle-down effect.

I think they also show investors that the can enjoy and show off something while still turning a profit and show the exciting side of collectible cars which in turn brings up all the values.

I am planning a huge weekend there. The "Pinks" show will be filming 9 races there that weekend, entry is $10  :jumping:
Then there will be a drag race/car show at another drag strip, car show entrants recieve free carshow admission, free lunch for two, an event gift, and free admission to the drags!  :clapping: Later that day I will go to the World of Wheels at the Civic Plaza  and finally on Sunday I will be at the Barret Jackson auction.  :droolingbounce: It's going to be great!

I would not take a chance and sell my car with no reserve. I was watching re-runs of 05 Barrett Jackson on Speed this weekend and there were quite a few unhappy sellers not getting what they wanted for there cars. Depending at what time your car rolls threw the blocks, there may not be the right group of buyers. Also since Speed will be televising the auction, if they don't show your car you may miss out on phone bidders also. If I had a super rare Mopar to sell, I would put it on ebay with a reserve and see what happens. Also BJ gets 16% from the seller and buyer combined on your car, that's a joke.
