Challenger new springs installed and driving.

I took the Challenger out for it's first ride with the new rear leaf springs installed and got some pictures. The first picture is before the springs were put on and second and third are after the new springs were installed. I measured the Challenger before and after and with no gas in the tank as I also put a new gas tank on when I was changing out the leaf springs the rear end sit 4 1/2 inches higher than with the old leaf springs. I would say it had really settled with age as the springs were still the originals. I also put new rear brakes shoes  :working: on the Challenger as they were getting thin and needed changed out. Everything went well with the first drive and I also raised the front end with the torsion bars being turned up as the rear end just set way to high for the front ends height. I really like the new ride and the Challenger actually seemed to ride better in the rear end. The brakes worked great and I found no problems with the new gas tank. This was one up grade that really worked out the way I wanted it to. Now all I need is to get the front end aligment checked and some warm weather so I can get out and enjoy the time I just put into the Challenger.

Wow, that's a big difference. It looks great.  :thumbsup: I've been waiting to see these.  :grinyes: Did you go with springs that had 5 or 6 leafs in them?

how would you describe the improvement in ride? Does the rear have more swing and sway now?

Just so everyone knows I went with 5 leafs in my springs. This is the same as what my 340 Challenger RT came with from the factory. I went with 1 inch over stock when (Springs N Things) made my springs. I would say the car seem to take bumps in the roads better with more spring movement. I think this is because my other springs had sagged so much limiting my supension movement when I would hit a bump before it actually seemed like suspension just stayed where it was when I would hit a bump which would feel like a smack in the rear end causing alot of noise at the same time. I'm very happy with the springs but it did raise my Challenger more than I thought it would.

I just installed the factory height springs on my Red Chally, I went with those because when I installed the factory height springs in my White one last year it seems to sit higher than what I expected. I am also interested to see how much they settle. 71340RT  Glad to hear the ride inproved as I haven't driven either one of mine yet but the Red one has had air shocks for the last 25 years so I am sure it has to be a 200% improvement.

Went for my first ride with the new rear springs and shocks and like 71340RT said what a difference. :woohoo:  After 25 years of bouncing around on air shocks now I have a nice ride. They are factory height springs.
