Just fyi.... there is a means by which the Missouri Highway Patrol can issue a new VIN on a car, but at a huge cost. If you have a new one assigned, the car then becomes a NEW car. So if my '73 is given the new VIN, then it becomes a 2006, according to the title. That really sucks. If you need to change dashes and the VIN plate is destroyed in the process, you have a HUGE problem because your classic car now becomes a "NEW" 33 year old car. Not sure if the "NEW" car is now required to meet new car emission standards, but I think you all can see what the problem with this is
