I went back today with 12 large in hand. I checked all the panels with a magnet, and it checked out. All steel. I pulled out the wad-o-cash, and he said no. He's firm on $15K.  I told him that it would take me a few weeks to get the rest, and that I would give him $2K today to hold it, and come back with the rest when I picked up the car. He wasn't interested in that either. "So what's the big deal Pitbull", you say, "just go get the other $3K, and go get it." I almost started WWIII this weekend with my wife. She started out with no F'ing way, we can't afford it!!  :hyper: And I got her talked into $10K, if I sold off all my other stuff. I went ahead and withdrew $12K, knowing the beating I was going to take, but an extra $2K worth of beating I can handle. An extra $5K? My divorce would cost me more than that, so I'd have to sell the Cuda anyway. So, here's my dilemma: Do I sell off all of my stuff, plus start saving OT checks in the hopes of getting enough money to get it before someone else comes along with the money, or do I go by the old saying, "Two Cuda's in the hand is worth one in someone else's yard"?  If I bust my hump in OT, and start selling things off, I could have the extra money in a few months. Also, please go here http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=16598.0 and help me with some idea of what I should ask for the 2 Cudas that I've got now. I think I'm going to list them locally before I go to Ebay, and I don't want to go too low or high. Thanks.

No 'Cuda is worth losing your marriage over. If it was a '72 Hemi, welllll...........right, Burpin'?  :naughty:

Its one thing to get the car, its another to survive. Sounds like you're at the breaking point financially, if not a bit over with all the OT and selling off stuff.

Sell $1500 worth of stuff, keep the nicer Cuda of the pair you have, come back to the guy with $13,500 and tell him that you met him halfway and he should do the same. If not, I would walk away. It sounds like it'd would be too hard on you financially to recuperate the debt, let alone invest more money into that Cuda's much-needed bodywork.

Ask yourself, what is the breaking point between a life of bliss restoring a 'Cuda and a supportive wife. I'd take a 318 Cuda and clone it into a 340 rather than get a real 383 car and lose my wife and life savings.

Keep us posted.

Hmm. I tried the chat room, but I don't see any thing but a button that says float. Not sure if there's no one in there, or if it's on my end. Anywho, I'll try a little later.
As for the Cuda. I don't mind selling off the Cudas that I have in order to upgrade. This one will need MUCH less work than what I'm sitting on now. I may try some OT. I don't work OT all the time. I usually just pick up a few jobs when I need some money. For example, I worked a few months of OT, and paid for our vacation to Disney last year. That sort of thing. I had already signed up for some jobs next month before I saw this Cuda. So, I guess I'll see how kind the OT fairy is to me next month, and go from there. The guy said that he only had one other person stop and ask about it, and that was before me. He hasn't heard from the other guy since. So, I don't think it's going anywhere. If I can pay for it out of what I have + OT, then my wife won't say anything about it, because it's not coming out of our savings.

I'm running Norton Internet Security 06. I had to turn it off for about 5 minutes, and that was enough time to get me in.

The guy called me back and left a message for me to call him last night. I called him this morning, and he said that he was thinking that we could work something out. He told me that if I put 3K down, he would hold it until I got the rest. That would be ideal for me. That way, it gives me time to sell the other 2, and some parts, and save up some OT money. I'm going back over there tomorrow.

Good news, Just make sure you get something in writing if you give him cash.  I am sure you know that though, lol.   :clapping:

Be Careful here!  Maybe instead of handing him cash, you guys could set up a sort of car purchase escrow account?  That way he knows the money is there for him, but it's not totally out of your hands. You still have some control of your cash that way.   :cooldancing:  ............Oldschool
