upgaded headlight system

I think the HID systems on the newer Lexus, BMW's and Mercedes look way cool. I would like to put a set of those or similar on my car. I understand they are not just unique bulbs but each has their own power supply? Anyone got the skinny on these?

Here's a little bit of information from a previous post.

Hey Romi - thanks for that. I planned to do the relay thing. Have you seen these HID systems? The HID cars light flood is nice and bright but it looks like a soft flourescent light rather than an incandescent. It is too cool. Can you get that affect from different bulbs?

I may have seen it but not known what it was. I'm also not sure about the use of different bulbs but it would only make sense since the units are not sealed beams but housings. I've yet to see the housings but I'm told they're out there. I've still got some front end grill and headlight work to do before spring and depending on how that goes I may look into the cost of converting the lights over as I finish it up. I don't know about you but my lights are pretty dim coming home from a cruise at night and I live out in the country so the last thing I want to do is hit a deer because I didn't see it!
