Mopar Muscle Article  71 Cuda Convert PILOIT CAR
« on: June 01, 2002 - 04:31:50 AM »
Did any one else read the article on the 71 Cuda Convert?  Well my question is did anyone notice how dark the color of the B5 blue paint was???  I thought it was a lighter color than was on the car, I think it might be the light but even on the cover it looked dark???  Well never the less it sure was a sharp with that blue paint and the matching interior!!!  Im not normaly a fan of B5 blue but I like the color on that Cuda!!!

Didn't see it yet CudaGuy, but that B5 Blue isn't a light shade, but those pro photographers usually get the lighting just perfect, like a good Mopar mechanic, if it ain't right, it ain't leaving the garage till it is right! I'll have to get a copy and take a look, Thanks.

B5 blue IS a lighter shade of blue my Challenger was that color originally. The color of cars in magazines are pretty far from the color in real life if you ever look at GY3 cars in magazines they look almost like FY1 Yellow
whereas it is more green in real life, So the colors in magazine can be off often.

Like I said I dont like the color B5 but I do like the color that is on that Cuda it looks very good in the pics.  I love the way the interior directly matches the exterior!  Very Cool!!!

That shade looks real close to me, the interior of our Challenger has that same color, on our fender tag for the interior it is listed as H5B5 bright blue, and believe me it is BRIGHT especially with a darker shade of exterior paint like dark silver metalic, that's why we decided to go with a soft satin white exterior with fine blue pearl coat, thus : whitesatinmopar, but we're staying with the original interior. 8)

Captian Mopar

That is not the car, the car that is in the article is a darker shade I think maybe B7 I think!  I guess it was a bad idea to put a pic of a B5 Cuda Convert I can see how people woudl think it was the article car.  Sorry.

I saw that car at Carlisle last year.  It really cought my eye so I stopped and chatted with the owner for a while.  I can't believe that I forgot to take pictures.  The pictures in the post above are spot on and match the car.  The pictures in the article in MM are dark.

This car really stood out among the row of ebodies at the show.

Altho this thread is almost three years old, the guy who owns this '71 'Cuda Pilot car lives in my town.  I have seen the car at a few shows, and the guy who restored it (Al) is a friend of mine from ASE Motorsport.  He has an all-original '69 Hemi Charger (also in a recent magazine article) and is restoring a Hemi Daytona and a '70 Chally R/T

The Cuda is an AWESOME car!!  I must remember to take/post pics this summer if I can get out to any of the shows.  We have HUNDREDS of cruise nights, but with the baby coming in April, I dunno if/when I'll get out.

the color problem lies with the printing not the photography.  very very hard to print some colors accurately,
blue in particular.
Why are the only other cars on the road all in my rear view mirror?  Oh yeah cause I got a 440/6 pack

Thank you GOD for the "Go Fast Division"

WOW this is an old post LOL!!!  I started this right about the time I joined the ARMY!!!  I have been to war and back since seeing this post LOL!!!

As it turns out this car was a faked in some way???  I guess the people the owner bought this car from fabricated alot of paper work on this car and MM figured it out.  MM printed a retraction the next issue of MM or at least I rember reading it in MM.  The situation might have changed or been figured out since I was gone for a while and had no way of keeping up with this car any further.  MM even showed photos of the car it turned out to be a base model barracuda.  Does anyone else rember this???
