Looking for show quality bumpers
« on: January 09, 2006 - 06:37:34 PM »
I see there is another link about bumpers (repo) but this is a little bit different so I thought I'd start a new one.

If you've had your bumpers straightened and rechomed and were very happy with the results, who did it and about how much did it cost.

I saw I guy at Carlise two years ago that had drop dead gorgeous bumpers for sale but I've lost his card so I'm looking for info on who does the best work around.  I have both a 70 & 71 R/T to do.

Thanks - Steve

I know there are several places that do them but I'm in the same boat looking for a good quality on my bumpers I also need some repair on my rear bumper.

Personally in my resto shop I use TriCity platers out out of Tenn. Bumper boys are OK but lack the show quality and durability of the TriCity plater bumpers. Just my opinion.

Did a search found tricity

http://www.tricityplating.com/

These guys go to Carlise and may have been who I saw.

Here's a (GM) thread commenting on the same type of topic I started here along with the same recommendation of using these guys

http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12845

and can you believe one (GM) guy here is going overseas when he doesn't have to...

70Cuda,

I just received mine (both front & back from YearOne today. They are brand new and beautiful and for $500, I think a great deal. You might want to check them out...

Glad to hear you are happy with the Year One bumpers, thanks for the feedback.

However, I did ship my to tri-city plating a couple weeks ago at $260 per bumper and $45 each for the guards.  They said triple plated, show quality and life-time guaranteed with around a 6 week turnaround.

I wonder if visually the brand new ones look any different too.

Tri-city did my 70 Cuda bumpers and they are the best I've had done in the last 25 years. They also did my bumper guards to match my bumpers chrome finish. The lifetime warranty sold me after I looked at some of the bumpers they had at Mopar Nats. I knew who was chrome plating mine.

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like I did the right thing.  I'll try to follow up after they come back.

I live in Phoenix and had mine done at American Plating here in town.  They did an excellent job but it is pricey, about $300.00 each.
