Need big block k-member for "70" E-Body in Texas

Please help. I have a 1970 challenger convt. with a six and really need a k-member for a 440, bare or, disc to disc. I am in Ft Worth, Texas but am willing to pay shipping from somewhere else if need be. Thanks, Jeff 214.460.7524

You could use a V8 K-member off of a sixties B-body.. I would say '62-'72.
Doesn't matter if it's out of a taxi cab or a police car ect. Make sure you hot tank it and check for any cracks

Also, the 318 car K will work just as well as a 440 car K. The only special K-members were in 440 6bbl cars and HEMIs

You tend to find ones in better condition in Grandma's 318 Belvedere then 440 Road Runners. Those old big block car Ks are always dented and sometimes even bent.

The A-arms, torsion bars, steering boxes ect are all the same too, just update to the later model knuckles and disc brakes. The good knuckles and brakes are in '73 to '76 disc brake Dusters and Darts.

Another option to consider is Schumacker has conversion mounts to install a big block in a 6 cyl. K-member! Actually, the OEM torsion bars in a 6 are smaller than a small block and even more so than a big block!

Not sure if the steering link would need to be changed to a "drop-center" like in A-bodies.

I thought they were all the same except for the T/A's and AAR's.  I thought they had a plate welded to the bottom.  I'll look and see if I can find out where I read that.  I think it might have been the Challenger/Baracuda Restoration guide.

Right.. I was speaking of the plate.. As far as the Slant six being different....isn't that what we are talking about?

Slant six K members are as "special" as drum brakes. Some things just need to be replaced.

I appreciate all the helpful input. I am just getting started with this challenger and it's the first I've owned. I had a 72 Dart and a 76 valiant/6 in high school. This one is getting the 440/727 combo, with a disc brake 9" that I originally bought for the Mustang. The man that sold me the car gave me a 440 w/906 ? heads, and a big block 727. He has a bunch of them and he thru it in. He and his brother dismantled a bunch of mopars about 20 years ago, and then did nothing with the parts. Now it's all in a building just south of Downtown Dallas, where it's been for 20 years. It means almost nothing to these guys as they just consider them old parts and old cars. But they just won't cooperate very well about trying to buy it all. Anyway, I'm rambling again. I am putting the later, bigger brakes. someone gave me the Disc-o-Tech article.
