Edelbrock high rise intake
« on: January 09, 2006 - 10:18:52 PM »
I have an Edelbrock high rise intake for my 440 but i also have a stock one, will the high rise fit under a power bulge hood without clearance issues?  Its going to have stock set up as far as carb and air cleaner goes.

I guess it depends which intake you have , the air cleaner will usually hit unless you use a drop base

I have the same problem.   I have a Edelbrock RPM manifold that most recommend, however I am told my air cleaner wont clear the hood unless I use a drop base.   Then I wonder if I cut up my air cleaner will the drop base come into contact with the side of the carb cause I gonna run vacuum secondaries.    I read where you cut out the center of the stock cleaner and drop it an inch and half approx and weld in.    I am flustered as to keep this manifold or go with the Holley Street Dominator.   I dont like the idea of cutting up an original stock cleaner but may do so.

I have a performer RPM intake and ran in to the same problem.

You might be able to buy a drop base air can from Edelbrock and use just the bottom and the stock top.

I had to mess with a combination of bases and lids until I got the fit right.
