Wow!
You have a lot more desire to finish that car than I would have.  I know that E-bodies are high priced,  but I would have tried to buy one in a little better shape. I give you a bunch of credit for taking on that project.  Also you are very good at fabricating and welding.  Keep up the hard work, I cannot wait to see it finished.

When I bought the car I didn't realize I had this much in store for me. I'm still in the learning process of fabbing and welding - I've got a long way to go!

Of course, now that I've done all the work I'll take that much better care of the car when it's done.

Good job I'm impressed :2thumbs:

Thanks!

I'm hoping to get out to the garage tomorrow at some point. Of course, our little girl Abby may have a different idea in mind for me.  :1zhelp:

Phew! Time flies when you have a new baby to look after!

I managed to get out to the garage last week to do some "exploratory" sandblasting. The tent I made up seems to work pretty good:

I was pretty sure that the trunk and rear window area will need a lot of work, and wasn't let down:

As you can see, somebody before me was trying to hide things with some body filler. Grrrr... why can't people put the proper amount of work into a job to get a good finished product?  :swear:

I need to pick up a few more bags of sand (actually, it's stuff called "Sorel"), and I'll know exactly what I'm dealing with. I may wind up replacing the entire filler panel, but if I'm lucky I'll only need to worry about the section by the rear window and right front section of the trunk.

Looks like mother nature wants that one back. One panel at a time and you win. Freakin cancer. Keep up the good work.

Well, that was the back window. Now for the windshield area.

It's amazing how creative people can get with body filler...

I'm not real sure exactly what someone was thinking with this area. It looks like they went a little bit crazy with a cut-off wheel.

More creative use of body filler. Ack!

Bottom part of the windshield - weird pattern of rusting.

Seeing as this was sitting on page 3 I guess it's been a while since my last update.

I still haven't done the repair on the windshield area - been pretty busy with Abby, home and work lately. I think I'm going to try putting aside a day a week for car work, otherwise I'll never get out to play.

What's this? An update? An early Christmas present, you might say.

The before pic, with the donor part alongside.

Cancer cut out.

Donor part fitted into place. Still a little more wiggling before I'm happy with it.

Happy New Year!!! My resolution for this year is to spend at least 1 day a week working on the car!  :working:

I've welded in the donor section, and smoothed down the welds.

Filled in the section in the middle. I'm still curious why someone would take a cut-off wheel to this area?
