Phew! Time flies when you have a new baby to look after!
I managed to get out to the garage last week to do some "exploratory" sandblasting. The tent I made up seems to work pretty good:
I was pretty sure that the trunk and rear window area will need a lot of work, and wasn't let down:
As you can see, somebody before me was trying to hide things with some body filler. Grrrr... why can't people put the proper amount of work into a job to get a good finished product?
I need to pick up a few more bags of sand (actually, it's stuff called "Sorel"), and I'll know exactly what I'm dealing with. I may wind up replacing the entire filler panel, but if I'm lucky I'll only need to worry about the section by the rear window and right front section of the trunk.
