If someone made a crazy offer for your car would you take it?
« on: January 11, 2006 - 07:41:54 AM »
I had my cuda at car show this past December, and had many people looking at my car. Since its a black 440 six pack shaker hood car, many people have never seen anything like it in south florida.
I had two guys that keeped returning making me offers on the car, everytime going up 10 grand.
Before long there offers were double what I paid for the car almost a year ago. One of the guys was even ready to cut me a check on site as deposit to think about it. I took a minute to think about it and said no thanks.
The dude that was ready to cut me the check nearly fell over.  :faint:  I said, this is my first Cuda I've ever owned, and wanted since a teenager. And it would be to hard for me to find another one in black.
I didn't tell them, but if I sold the car I think my son would have killed me.

I had a business man come into the bodyshop here at the dealership and saw my 71 cuda clone. He fell in love with the car and offered my 35k for it. I told him that it wasn't a real cuda, but a gran coupe converted into a clone. His reaction was...so, I don't care, I like the car. I had to say no thanks. I really didn't have the time to build another one and I really wanted to drive the car for a while. He wanted me to build him one, but I was already booked for the next three years and he didn't want to wait. This kind of thing happens almost every time I bring one of my cars to the dealership. I guess they just figure that everything at a dealership must be for sale.

To answer your question, no.

To me Lucy is priceless, that's all that matters is that I enjoy her. No money, no investment thoughts, just pure love for the car. Selling?? If ever there was a time to cry, that would be it.  :crying:

It would depend on how crazy the offer was. Are you talking crazy or insanely crazy?

I get offers on mine when I open the garage to work on it from people driving by. :working:

I waited along time to find just the right Challenger. I didn't buy it for the investment that was the cherry on the cake. The one I found I have a bond with and have spent alot of time already just getting to the point of body and paint. The offer would have to be certifiable  :pullinghair: for me to consider and even at that I would have to think of how many days on a beach it could buy me. :bigshades:

Same here.... it also would depend on which car we're talking about, though. The Charger is pretty much a keeper... had it too long to part with it now, so it would take absolute insanity for me to sell it. The Coronet is a different story, as it is not the car I was really after, but a good substitute at the time.

I've actually had a couple people ask me if I would sell the car for crazy $$. They both are looking for a real black shaker 71. Both said they are priced out of Hemi's & V-code cars.. so a real shaker is what they could afford.

I said when the last real black shaker cuda they saw uner 50k.. one guy said that's it exactly.. he doesn't see them nor do I.  But to answer this thread.. NO () I would not sell, but maybe trade for a 71 cloned vert.

People have asked me what the car is worth.. I said it may be worth 25k, but I couldn't replace it for 50k.  :burnout:

It is soooo difficult to imagine letting go of the cuda. Even so, I have seen the prices rise so fast that at some point I have to ask myself ......Am I the crazy one for not accepting !

It would have to be stupied money before I sell my 71 Superbee.  I've owned it since 1985, it's part of the family.  Hopefully, others will understand.

I somewhat feel like NZ, although my wife is the original owner and probably has a sell number.

Even though its a 71 318 car 50K used to be my crazy number.  Now 100K to 150K would get me to think and get choked up a bit.

I hate to say it, but if we were talking crazy money I would sell her.  I would regret ir the rest of my life because I would probably never get another 70 Challenger convertible, but I have sold other cars that I regret moving.

I have already had a chance to sell both my 71 Challenger RT and 70 Cuda.  It was not enough money as I would have to replace them and I don't want to have to do that as nice Challengers and Cudas are very hard to find. Keep in mind what it will take in time and money to replace them. I would sell them if the money was enough.
