If I were in the same situation I would like a helping hand too. That is the MoPar spirit.  :bigshades:

Nooooo!  Hey, guys, check out the Hammerfund and Hammerfest threads over at my good freinds LXForums.com.

I kind of missed it, but these guys set up a paypal account and got together a TON of cash (all casual donations) to the Rev Hammer's fund.  He is a champion poster, wild card, and all around good guy over there (much like Burpin over here) and somehow he wound up getting a brand new 2005 Charger RT!

Now, I don't know what the deal was, if he had been saving up for years and was a few bucks short, or whether they dragged him out of a soup kitchen and down to the Dodge dealer, but there are photos of like forty people at a caravan/dinner/Dodge dealership presentation ceremony, complete with free exhaust and other goodies from site sponsors!  Needless to say, the Rev was speechless.  But not for long.

I'm sure we can do something like this, eh?  It sure is easy to just hit that paypal button for ol' Burpin, eh?

Mods, what do ya say?  I'm sure most of us would be in?

You could try setting up a local sports event for kids.
Encouraging them to get out more, donations from parents etc
You'll have to advertise the fact that it is for a couple of good guys one doing duty.

Just throwing something on the table....

It sure is a hard one, when does "he" get back?

I believe "he" gets back in early 2007, so we have a year to accomplish it.

And then find him a car!   :working:

I think the "finding" part will be easy...it's the money part that has me stumped.

Burpin, I didn't get a chance to see this post until today, but that's aweful that you'll have to be selling all those things you mentioned.  Hopefully there's a way around all this and you won't end up selling everything you mentioned.
