I don't know if this question has ever been asked, but what's your preference and why?

Never liked the vinyl tops.. think it cheapens the look. I like the e-bods w/o the upolstery. No top would be best

My vote would go to the vinyl top. I like them both ways don't get me wrong but theres something about the vinyl top that lets that e-body stand out from the rest. Sort of a faux convertible. Vinyl tops make a great lid.

Funny you should ask. I have been trying to decide which way to go with my 70 440-6. I have always liked them w/o the vinyl top, it really brings out the nice shape of the roofline. But recently I have really started to like them, maybe since most have eliminated the vinyl it kind of makes it refreshing to actually see them. My car came with a luggage rack and vinyl top and that is how it is going back, contrary to my original plans. IMO, it is kind of hard to hurt the looks of an E body.

I think it depends on the color combo. In the case of my 340 car the black top over the hemi orange really richen it up alot.
Take a look for yourself

I agree, I never liked vinyl tops, but they add to Challengers in my opinion. (depends on the color combo)

We SE owners don't have much of a choice, but I do like them....especially a triple black cuda!!  I'm still dreaming!!

Now if I could only find 5 yards of gator grain.....

Yip, I agree, it depends on color. I think Rev and Redlines car shows this.
It would have been just as awesome without it but, it adds a lot of character to their ride.

IMHO, I'm sway-able. I love them without, lets the lines flow up from the rear quarters & up through the roof line.
The vinyl top slows this flow down and in a way cuts it completely off.
Triple black cars are awesome, but that's cheating. lol

I sure am glad I went without mine, SO glad. But I think the color is way off for a black vinyl roof.

Cheers,

Yeah, but even if it wasnt standard...I would have it. I cant picture an e-body I want without a vinyl top....well maybe a white challenger, but that is only because I've never seen one with a white top (has anyone seen a triple white e-body??). Beside breaking the car up a lot, I feel that the vinyl top adds a little class to the car and with all the trim it also adds a little "bling"

Seems like alot of us like the E bodies with a vinyl top.   I am not sure about Cudas and I am an RT/SE owner so I am probably biased.   But I chose the SE cause its more rare and I like the formal classic look of the vinyl top.    Makes it a richer look to me.  I just dig that SE formal emblem on the vinyl top.    Vinyl top looks good with the gomango (orange) color.   I also dig the vinyl tops on Plum Crazy purple cars and maroon cars.   Oops I cant how killer a vinyl top looks on the Limelight Green also.
Hmmm come to think of it the vinyl top looks good on all the HIGH IMPACT colors.   Sometimes you just gotta step it up a notch........he he he he.
