I think my Gunmetal Challenger looked plain after it was painted before I put the black top on it. I think the color has alot to do with it as I like my Tora-Red Cuda with no vinyl top on it.

I agree with 71340RT.... it depends on the color of the car.... and stripes.  On high-impact cars, the painted roof sometimes brings out the color more, and the 'elegance' of the vinyl roof clashes with the 'beach party' attitude of the high-impact colors IMHO.

NZ's car looks awwwwwwwsooooommmeee and I wouldn't stripe it or vinyl it, but on a Go-Mango, I gotta like the painted roof.  On a black car, I am torn.... speaking of which, I REALLY liked the looks of this one... Rev and Oldschool, you guys are in Hotlanta, right?  Ever see this one on the street?

BTW the wheels are 17x9.5 (5.5 offset) rear and 17x8 (4.5 offset) front (centerlines) with 275-50-17's on rear and 225-50-17's on front...

Thank you sir, too kind mate, too kind.

That black one is awesome!!!!!!
I would only change the spoiler on it and that's it, maybe, just maybe put Rallye rims on too.

That looks right at home with vinyl, no question. Plus saying you own a Triple Black car is just plain bad ar$e!!!

Cheers,

It depends on the color of the car, Rev & Red's car looks marvelous with the vinyl top, but Other cars would be berrer without.

I like the vinyl tops.  Give the cars a 70s look.  There was a post earlier, that I can't find,  guy had a yellow Cuda with a matching yellow vinyl top.  Looked awesome.

I like the Vinyl Top on E Bodies it make it stand out from other car (I wish I had my car done so I could sent it) but it hard putting it on so I'm going to have a body shop do it for me and do it rightthe first time that way I don't have to go back and do it again

mine was taken off by the last owner, in fact the holes for the trim were not even plugged up(made for great drain holes  ) but I am most definitely putting it back on, no matter what color I go with. I beleive it somehow brings the lines out, and adds a "sleekness" to the overall look.

There's no single answer to that question. My 71 cuda is red without the billboards and no vinyl top. If I were to put the billboards on, I would definitely go ahead with the vinyl top. To me they look unbalanced to have the billboard alone. It depends so much on the color, trim etc. Overall, I think challengers usually look better with vinyl tops than the cudas.

I like vinyl tops,  I have had both but most of mine have been with vinyls.  The one I have now will have one when done.

My 71 Cuda is going to be it's original Winchester Gunmetal. It originally didn't have a vinyl top but I am so tempted to add it.  I think it helps break up the color especially when it is not a high impact color.  With the luggage rack on the trunk I think it would awsome.  All I need now if the chrome trim.  Anyone have spares?  Ed

I think the clean muscular lines of Barracudas look better without a vinyl top ecspecially with high impact colors. The exceptions would be a Gran Coupe or some of the darker color combos.Challengers are a little more upscale/classier and look better with vinyl. The luggage rack also adds to the look.
