Thats a hard one, so many different ways to answer it.

Im just gonna say grille, taillights, side markers and bumper things.

I think Il let someone else answer the rest because its a bit complicated and Im not really feeling up to it right now.

R/T = Road & Track.

Basically the grille, taillight section, engine power decreases as the years went on.
Different options were canned,  stripes etc changed.

The 1971 Challenger was the last year for R/T's with  the Challenger Rallye model taking over from this.
The main change was definitely the engine's of the cars, with the HEMI, 440-6bbl, 440-4bbl and other going and being replaced by the small block MoPars which in the later years were detuned themselves considerably.

There is more but that's just the basic rundown. Hopefully others will chip in with some more info.

Welcome to the board.

The 1971 challengers had different grille and taillights than 72-74's and big blocks, hemi's and convertibles were still available. Starting in 72 there was no longer an R/T version, big blocks or convertibles and the performance version was now called a Rallye. The '72 challengers had bumpers like the '71, but starting in '73 the challengers had 5 mph front bumper guards and 2 1/2 mph rear bumper guards to meet new safety standards. The 340 was still available in a lower compression version for '72 and '73, but starting in '74 the 340 was replaced with the 360. There were other minor changes each year but the overall cars looked the same.

NZ is on top of things as usual!   R/T stands for Raod and Track ~ G/T stands for Gran Touring  . . both racing terms!  Very cool!   :bananasmi  :bananasmi

Trying to post this but keep getting an ERROR!!   :pullinghair:  :pullinghair:  :pullinghair:

There is about 1 to 4 years difference.   :bananasmi
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

There's also a difference in price and collectibility.

'70-'71 models are more sought after, IMO, than the '72-'74 models and therefore more $$$$.  There's more parts availability from repro places for the '70-'71 cars also.
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.
